Sub Enclosure Ideas???

Okay guys, with as many 5th gen we have out there, I need some ideas about a sub enclosure. I was going to replace the factory bose sub with a 10" JL with an enclosure off the rear deck, but not enough room because of trunk bars. I also thought about a vented enclosure like xtantmax, but I want to keep as much room as possible. I'm also installing a JL 5-channel amp that will need plenty of room for cooling. If any of you guys have pictures or ideas, please post. It can be a single or two subs, between 10-12's. Oh, have to keep spare,
I commute 100 miles everyday.

Thanks,
Shane

Thanks for the reply adman. Are you having any cancellation problems since the subs are front firing? I was thinking of trying to do an enclosure similar to yours and trying to seal the opening to the front of the enclosure so the factory opening (top of deck) would act as a vent. The subs would sit back like yours. Wanted to put my amp there, but it looks like I'm running out of options. Damn trunk bars.

That is why I added the vent in the deck.
No problem with the trunk bars either...

We appreciate the Pic's, do you have close-ups? Thats exactly what I'd like to do for my false wall in my trunk.

Also did you have any rear deck rattling problems? I,m pretty sure I need to remove it to add some dynamat there, but i hear it is extremly difficult.

Thanks in advance.

The rear deck is easy to remove, just a little time consuming...There has been a couple members here lately that have removed their rear decks, and if you get stuck, there are people that can help

Not really. I stuffed the panel with Dacron.

I like this idea, you get the bass sound, but when you open the trunk, you can't see the subs... Do you have a write up of how you made the box? I would need mine custom made... so maybe bigger pics or something?

What size subs did you use? 10's?

Do you have enough room to get at the spare tire?

Thanks.

I had the same setup as Adman but due to me facing the subs into the car I lost alot of bass. I ended fliping it back around and got my bass back but still got rattels, dynamat is going to be installed soon then it will be final

I stuffed Dacron where ever I could...between the metal shelf and the panel cover. The seat belt housings are the worst culprits for noise/rattles by far!!!

Side Note: My bass really sucked until I cut the vent/port in the deck. And, turning the box around only made the vibrations worse. I guess I like it the way it is now...with the wave bouncing off the rear window. But, what do I know...

I drop the seat when I really want the bass loud. Hmp, just don't accidently pop open the trunk while inside!!!

Ok, I have asked on a TON of threads in the audio section and never got a response

what size/brand/model tweeter are you using in the factory A-pillar location? Does it fit perfectly?

thx

Why not? Will you blow your speakers?

I like this setup, but I am thinking about using the port and facing the subs in the other direction....

Can you get to your spare tire easy?

Personally, I have the Boston set...1-1/2" tweeter and 6-1/2 mid, I think. Dang, it's been so long now. The cross-overs are down in the kick panel on the passenger side.

As you can see, the tweeter fits perfectly inside the pillar. I believe I attached the Boston set to the Sanyo clip and then used the factory screws to put the clip right back on the piller. Then, the trim just clicks back on to cover everything up. Just make sure the tweeters are surface mountable and you'll be okay. I mean, you'll still be Tim. But, your car will sound better anyway...

It releases all of the sound pressure! The bass is real boomy and at least four times louder inside the cabin!!

Yep. The box just clears the edge of the cracked-multi-jig-saw-puszzle-piece spare cover. However, I am probably going to fabricate a new floor piece that covers the entire trunk...like I had in my 4th Gen.
