2002 clutch

Has anyone changed there clutch on a 02-up Maxima? Mine is completly screwed and not sure if the dealer is going to replace it. I have 11k on the car and less then 1 year of use. So i dont know how all this $hit happened. I bought the car with 300 miles on it so I dont know how the car was treated during the first miles. Please help, thanks. I can get a stock clutch for $321 but I might as well get a better clutch right.

Thanks in advance,

Chris

I bought mine with 217 miles on it. My brakes were warped at 700 miles. They must have really thrashed the car before I got it.

I don't think my clutch is slipping but I would like to install a racing clutch later. The only drawback is that I am **** about driving smoothly. I practice everyday on making the 6spd drive as smooth as possible whether under light acceleration or hard acceleration. With the racing clutch and the improved grip, I think it will be much more difficult to drive smoothly.

There are a lot of posts about .org members having 2k2 clutch issues me being one of those lucky individuals. The clutch is actually considered to be a wear item by most Nissan dealers but a powertrain component by the Nissan Tech that worked on my car. (He was requested by someone from Nissan Corporate in California.) As long as your vehicle is taken to the dealer with in 1 year or 12000 miles you should be okay, just stand your ground if know there is a problem. One last thing, if you live in the Washington, DC metro area DO NOT take your car to Rosenthal Nissan in either Tysons Corner, VA, or Gathersburg, MD.
