2k2 OEM Muffler inlet size?

Search yielded conflicting info. The 2k & 2k1 mufflers are approx 2.25. Do the 2k2+ mufflers have bigger inlets (2.5)?

Does anyone know this definitely or have it off their car to measure?

Thanks.

I just installed a 2k1 muffler on my 4th gen and I kept the 2k1 inlet pipe which they had to cut in order to fit muffler to the stock B-pipe. The overall diameter of the pipe is ~2.20", but the ID is only a mere 1.9-2.0" which is the same as the 95-99 inlet size

How do you like your 2k muffler? I'm loving mine. I definately feel additional power in the midrange which is nice because the VIM sucked out some of that midrange punch.

Its around 2.25. My system was 2.5" all the way back so I had the muffler shop cut the 5th Gen pipe off right at the inlet of the muffler and expand the inlet to 2.5" and then weld a new pipe on.

Otherwise why even bother with the 2.5 B-Pipe, Hi-Flo Cat etc?

Dave, I liked the 2k muffler but swapped it out in May of 2001 for an HKS for the 2k because it had dual tips (cosmetic) and 2.5" piping. (Agreeing with Jime here).

The question is are the 2002/2003 mufflers the same size inlet at the 2000/2001?

If the 2002+ mufflers are 2.5 pipe, then its a straight bolt on for me to quiet down the car a little bit.

I would rather not cut the pipe off the hks since i can sell it if its not chopped.

Ok Confused, ya mine was a 2k so hopefully the 2k2 will be larger. Would make it a lot easier for you.
