Oil Leak on Brand New Max?
Oil Leak on Brand New Max?
I did a search and came up with nothing so I am asking you guys to help me out. I got my car earlier this week and it still only has 100 miles. I started the car this morning and pulled out of the driveway and went back to get the garbage (garbage day today). What I noticed was fresh oil on the ground where the pan would be. Is this normal? My instincts tell me no, but then again, this is my first brand new car. Help me out guys. Thanks.

now that you beat those odds, you will NEVER win the Lottery now...
with a GM or Ford product, you get that 1 out of 20 cars or so...
Nissan, I've never seen anyone have leaking trbl with a Nissan this early...that's probably why you didn't find anything on a search.

Are you using a full synthetic? I asked the service guy about putting a full synthetic in when I got my 15K service done, and he said he wouldn't do it cause it leaks everywhere. And it voids your engine warranty. Sounds a little extreme to me, and I didn't completely believe him... any feedback from you guys on this claim from the service guy?

No synthetic. Like I said, I just picked it up on New Year's Eve. I rolled it out of the garage this morning and viola, the first oil drops to show up on my floor are those from the max - not from my previous 97 explorer or my 98 accord or the other 91 accord, but from the max. The dealer said to bring it in.
Here we go. I hope this doesn't start a slew of dealer visits. This will really make me sad. Seriously, I want to enjoy the car, not watch it get taken to the dealer. Everyone - please pray for a full recovery and no more return trips. Thanks.

Have you tried to see where it is comming from. Everything should be clean so it would be easy to see. That way when you take it in you'll have an idea what the problem is and when they fix it you'll know where to look if it comes back.
If your lucky it's just a loose filter or nut. Also check the oil level before you drive it. If it was leaking on their lot before you got it may be low.
When i pulled out of the garage, I noticed the oil on the floor. I haven't opened the hood or checked underneath. I ASSUME that it is coming from underneath, and I hope that assumption is correct cause if its coming from the top and making its way down through all the components of the engine and other obstructions and STILL making a mess on the floor, then I can't imagine what the problem could be. Like I said, I HOPE its coming from underneath - like a loose bolt on the oil pan, etc.

Is it possible that the fluid was tranny or brake fluid? When I walked passed it, I let out a big "F*#K" and hurried to get the garbage out. I was running late, but I don't think it looked pink. Pretty sure it was brown. I am getting sick to my stomach just thinking about it right now. I might leave work early to take care of this. Thanks for all the help guys.
