yeah, I almost got my hands on a second gen max...it was in great shape! this was back when I was selling cars a Wilmington Nissan in Wilmington NC...instead I opted for a 1998 Sentra SE (sr20de) close ratio

I think in the NA It's the Altima. TC would be the Neon SRT4

No, I just got the Motor Trend in the mail today, they say it is THE FASTEST FRONT WHEEL DRIVE THEY HAVE EVER TESTED.

They didn't specify NA or TC...just FWD.

They went on to say it set records in 0-60 and 1/4 mile....5.95 and 14.4 respectively...

they also said (as we all know) that the interior is inferior.

The boys at MT obviously haven't tested the SRT-4...or even a 2k3 Maxima...in the conditions that the Altima ran 5.95, a Maxima could have done better than that...OH WAIT, NISSAN LIED TO US! so forget that...

page 123 of Feb 03 Motor Trend of the same issue shows 02 Altima SE does 0-60 in 6.3. The 03 tested in the same issue does 0-60 in 5.95. An increase of 5 HP improves the 0-60 by 3.05 seconds!!! Simply incredible

different test, a few months back,

weather and climate, track conditions all play into it...

could be a better driver that got the better times too...

If they ran it on a track that was cement last time, and asphalt this time...

there are so many factors...

and the engine probably didn't get a boost in power anyway, it's probably always been around 245...at least that's the latest "where's my 15 hp" conspiracy theory...but that's another can of worms.

In the end of 2001, Motorweek tested an 02 SE and got a flat 5.9 0-60 and a 14.4 1/4 @ 100mph

That's with 5 missing hp

I loved the comment "did you miss a gear?"

Sorry, dude, you are way off base - The Max does not hold a back seat to the Camry in any way, shape or form. The Camry is slightly more "plasticized" in the "fit and finish" department - not lower in quality, just not as nicely appointed. Camry is more similar to a Taurus, but with better reliability, sort of the penultimate rent-a-car.

I think the reason most people are so opinionated about the rear of the 2k2-3 Max, is because thats ALL THEY SEE !!!!

I guess I've always associated "fit and finish" with quality.

and in that regards, the Toyotas have much better quality in their interiors than do Nissans.

you say the Maxima doesn't hold back seat to Camry in any way?

while I have my reasons for buying a Maxima, and wouldn't get a Camry under any circumstance...

but lets see what a Camry has that a Maxima doesn't...

Much better Resale Value
better rear suspension (not like our minivan suspension 4th & 5th Gen)
higher quality interior (less rattles)
Lexus as a big brother
no problems with radio/cd player
they don't lie about HP
cheaper MSRP

but don't get me wrong, I love my Maxima...
cheaper to buy used...because of bad resale value
good looking interior despite some rattling/quality issues
240-255HP w/6speed as an option
sport "tuned" suspension...tho rear suspension sucks...you can carve corners better in a Maxima..
Youth appeal...Camry's are for Grandma's

I think we see eye to eye in regards to the camry interior being of quality components, but just not much to look at....

I don't think I was "way off base"....be careful of how you word your posts...please. I think emax95 is getting tired of moderating my ****...

im sure the guy in the clk 430 on the highway wasnt expecting to not be able to pass me either lol

I second that

Altima is fast as hell, but to be a family sedan, it misses that goal.

Car and Driver just got a 5.9 0-60mph time for the Altima too, so MT's time can't be a fluke. It is in the current newsstand issue with the Dodge Magnum.

Pal, you don't even own a Maxima. You own an Altima (where's that 'barf' smiley?) and a WRX. Can't you join an Altima forum and hump THEIR leg?

Linh is an idiot. Seriously. You know you're a moron when the only attacks you've got are worthless ad hominem and red herring. You had your redesign last year, pal. Let's see how your a$$ does next year when the Max gets his. Punk. I'll show you "15 HP."

I see someone just took a Logic Class

I don't see the point of bashing each others cars, you will not find a negative comment from me about a Maxima. I just come her to learn more about the VQ and who knows...When the new Max is out...

yes I must be a moron compared to "mr i'm in college so now i must have an ounce of intelligence." my reply was no more idiotic than many on this forum, it just so happens that it directed against your car rather than for it.

"first you buy an ugly car" - that is MY opinion, i'm entitled to it. how many "cheap, domestic crap" posts have you seen on the org regarding anything american (ie GTP, Neon)? pretty much the same thing

"now you're out 15HP" - this is supposedly a "fact," as many of you org guys are whining about it, even on the altima forum. what is wrong with this statement?

if i were you i'd go back to the bursar/financial aid office and whine about the fact that you're not getting what you paid for (i assume you paid for more than 1 ounce, but thats all you're getting, so go whine about that). after that maybe you can tackle nissan for their 15HP.

You are a moron. A bigger one than I had originally thought. I don't recall saying anything about claiming to have any more intelligence than anyone else. Actually, you're the one that said it, so thank you. What exactly is your point little man? Why would you come onto a forum of a car that you hate so badly? If you DID have "an ounce of intelligence" as you so eloquently put it, then you would go find something productive to do with your time. But instead, you have to troll around trying to offend people. Like I said...MORON.
