This kid wants to race me and I just wanted to get some opinions if I should. I know these cars are pretty quick. I only have a stillen intake and cattman exhaust done. BTW my car is auto and his is also. DO you think my max can beat it???? Any comment would be appreciated. Thanks Anthony

 

the best thing to do would be to go to the track, then when people want to mess with you like this, you can just show him the timeslip and tell him to come back when he can beat it. Safer for you/others and your car and you dont waste your time.

I say 2k1 max wins it...i recently raced my friend in his (not sure what year) Acura Legend V6L (<--thats the badge it had on it) VTEC in my 2k1 auto max and destroyed him, left him like he was sitting still even while i was spinning, he said first gear (auto) in his car was SLOOOW but after that it was ok, he also said the car doesnt do much of anything at all until hits 4000 RPMS....i know his car was a bit older than mine, but like i said im not sure what year it was...i know it was older than a 96...maybe a 90...91...92...93...i have no idea, whats some features and specs from the older models of those cars? i wanna know what year it was. i think it was a 2.7 or 2.8 liter VTEC Legend with auto...(somethin like that, or maybe 3.0 or something I HAVE NO IDEA...i know it was VTEC)...but anyway...i all out destroyed him...

 

The Legend never had VTEC

Two flavors

Type I L/LS models 3.2L SOHC 24 valve 200HP
Type II GS model 3.2L SOHC 24 valve 230HP

Unless its the infamous 6speed, your car will walk on both models if you can drive.

 

Tell you what, I have a '93 Legend LS Coupe 6-speed. Pearl white, selling on ebay right now. Go take a glance if you'd like. I am selling it so I could possible get my '03 max back sometime in the future, but for now it's for school. They would come very close. It's stock except for exhaust and intake. I think that the max would have it off the line, but that 2nd and 3rd gear in the Coupe is a beast and will not stop pulling through 6th. It would be a good run, but don't ask me to run you, I don't drive my car that way. Sorry

 

By the way......Acura Legends were only made up to '95 and not beyond.....not bustin' your chops just an FYI

In a perfect world senerio I'm sure that is a solid fact, although degrading the Coupe 6-speed won't make him any faster......I feel the best response for this one is that it's a toss up after we get off the line. The max has surely got it off the line, but the pulling power of the 6-speed will put out it's fair share of competition. You really have to drive both vehicles and get the feel for them both, which I have done. You have to take in account that his max is not the 6th speed 02/03......with @ most 227hp without upgrades.

I was assuming the 95 Legend had LESS horsepower than the 96 3.2TL....

But I saw there is a 6-speed Legend, w/230hp...nevermind the "handsdown" comment...

I knew it was a 222-227 hp maxima, but I didn't know my Legend horespower ratings well enough to make an educated response here...

I think he said both cars were auto, but I agree with your senerio if Max is auto and Legend was 6-speed. If both were the same type of tranny, it would be a good race....although I probably give the top end pull to the Legend.

I use to own a 93 Type II coupe, auto. This was way before my Max, but I recall the TII would pull like crazy for an auto. I also owned a 91 sedan, manual. The 91 manual was a hell of a car. I gave it SO much abuse with over 120K miles. Not one problem!

IMO - 3.0 auto vs. 3.2 auto should be a close race. Max will get it off the line, but I think the Legen will pull in higer speed.

 

Thanks guys for giving credit to the Legend, whether it be auto or 6-speed, they're still great autos and a Legend in itself.

 

when I had car fever in august, september....I looked at a 91/92 Legend coupe, white w/black leather...autotragic...nice frickin car...I've always loved those cars...very nice styling...I get off on the door handles for some reason...they're like the New Accord, and the New Camry...if anyone's not sure what I'm talking about...loved the old legends...the TL is a joke in comparison...they should have kept the Legend nameplate...well, the Integra to for that matter...this CL, TL, RL RSX is dumb (in my opinion)

The Legend got ALOT bigger when it became the RL...they really should drop a V8 in that thing...I don't care how much horsepower the 3.5L V6 has....a $50,000 car needs a V8...

true true....that's why they didnt sell many of them. I think it is the way that the manufacturers dealing with their product. They supersize their current car and push them to the next class. Same here in Nissan....see Maxima is getting bigger in the size and engine? They got rid off the 4DSC sticker for a reason.


And Altima is catching up too.....

 

One more thing, someone said they raced a 2.7 model. That was the 87-90 edition (unless it was the 2.5L motor) They had 161HP on those.

 

But, I'm hearing that the 6G Maxima is supposed to be a new iteration of the '4DSC'! (Why they'd consider the 6G a 4DSC and not the 5G, I don't know. )
