Wire taps and dielectric grease
Wire taps and dielectric grease
In one the posts detailing the instructions for installing a shift light, they mention to use dielectric grease when using a 3M wire tap on the tachometer wire. I did some research and it looks like dielectric grease is meant so parts don't fuse together under extreme heat (ie: spark plugs and wires) but does it have conductive properties?
I ask because I have a loose connection (in my stereo setup) that I was using a wire tap and I wonder if dielectric grease would help conduct the electricity if the wire tap were to loose contact with the wire?
Anybody use this stuff?

But in reference to your question, if you completely lose contact with a wire, nothing is going to help you.

Dielectric grease is great stuff. It's main use is to prevent corrosion and help maintain a reliable connection. You would be amazed how easy it is to take a plug wire off a year or so after using this stuff. You can use it on any electrical connection.
