Fix for holes in front bumper from license plate frame - PICS

After looking through numerous threads I decided to go ahead and fix those ugly holes left in my front bumper from the front license plate frame. I have a complete writeup with details on my homepage.

BTW: all that crap on the front bumper is leaves on the ground reflecting in the paint.

I wouldn't if I were you...have you seen the touchup paint for our color? I have some on my car and it resembles white-out.

I knew it was going to be a bish.

I received a 3/4" long by 1/2" deep gash in my front bumper below my headlamp, which is DARK GRAY inside.

I'm hoping to use the factory paint pen to at least cover up the FUGLY gray.

Been looking for an answer to the holes that the idiots in Service create AFTER TELLING THEM TWICE NOT TO DO IT WHEN PREPING THE CAR prior to pickup (2nd one I've had this done to). Don't care if it looks like white-out (at least not right now ).

Still, I'd rather live with holes in the bumper than have to use a fron plate!

I have a front plate I thought they were mandatory in all states now, unless you were grandfathered in with older plates

I just took the bolts right out of the holder that held on the plate housing, screwed them right back in the holes I took them out of, and then painted them with touch up. Looks cool to me and if I ever get a ticket then I can put it back on. Just a thought. Barely noticeable.

No front plate in NC, but the morons at Southern States Nissan put on the bracket so they can mount their cheezy advert. plate.

Central Carolina Nissan does the same, but mine came from a dealer in GA, and I got it before anyone put on the bracket.

Nissan should have either made replacable plugs, or made a bracket that didn't require penetrating the plastic.

'Course, there are a lot of things Nissan should have done ...

the holes for the license plate frame are much bigger than the holes for the emblems...However, I am sure you could find some plugs that will work

Never understood the need for front ones...I mean how often are cars chased by police in reverse?

i kind of always thought it was for radar reasons. the cops need something flat on the front of your car to aim for. otherwise the radar bounces off at a weird angle and doesnt come back so they dont get a reading.

Nope, if that were the case ALL radar's would have to be directly ahead of the car and not off to the side of a road, etc. There are always angles involved.

Figures, Tim. When I picked mine up from Carlock in Blytheville, the service department left the checkoff list in the glovebox which, of course, tells where to drill the holes for the front plate. Since my car was a swap with another dealer in Mississippi, the sales manager just blamed the other guy for it. Come to think of it, I don't think Mississippi has front plates either.

Goal with next car-no front holes in bumper!!!!!

By the way Tim, do you know if North Point is as bad as the dorks over at Jones Nissan-Isuzu? Almost bought through them, but decided to get it closer to home so I wouldn't have to drive 2 hours just to strangle somebody.

Buzz

I had a couple of Accords and Honda had body colored plugs that simply snapped into holes in the front bumper that look like xray's solution. This was all from the factory, so the swap was painless. Too bad Nissan didn't mount the 5th gen plate like they did the 4th gen plate. (no holes in the visible part of the bumper).

Just think, that that cop on at the stop light going the opposite way may be reading your FRONT license plate and running your record!!

In UT we are supposed to have them, but i've never bothered to put them on any of my cars because they are such an eyesore.
Not having a front plate drastically reduces (usually) the range of laser speed detection.

Perhaps you forgot about those automatic cameras that take pictures of the front plate and driver
as one goes through a red light and on their way to a ticket. I know it smacks of big brotherism,
but it’s the main reason the front plate laws are now being enforced in Southern California.
