Another satisfied Budget customer! -- Y-Pipe

Got my budget y installed yesterday on my auto 2k cali-spec. I’m running it with a stillen intake and everything else is stock. I am definitely pleased with the results. Every gear pulls considerably harder after 5000 rpms. Third gear is really impressive. I couldn’t really test fourth gear though because my speed limiter is in the way. I really want to know what fourth does. Maybe someone with a similar set-up but no limiter could fill me in. I gotta get an rsm.

The pipe was $160 and I am totally satisfied. The only problem was Budget sent me the gasket for the cat/y connection but they didn't send me the 2 crush ring gaskets needed for the install; they actually sent me only 1 crush ring and it was the wrong size. However, I picked up the parts at Nissan for around 15 bucks. This was no big deal; when you order from budget just ask them to double check the install stuff.

I would like to thank Finish Line Auto Craft in Gardena for the excellent installation. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone in the LA area. They do everything from auto bodywork, to 5 speed conversions, to SC and turbo work.

Good to hear you are pleased with the budget y pipe. This is one of my next scheduled mods for my 2K. Haven't decided on which y pipe to go with though.

There isn't a big sound difference as far as normal driving goes. But if you floor it, it roars. I was worried it was going to be too loud for my taste but it's just fine.

Also, i just got back from doing some serious driving (its almost 5am ) and i can say for sure that this pipe made a big difference. The low end is improved, but its on the high end that the pipe really makes a huge difference. Considering that this mod only cost me $215 installed, i am very very pleased. I wish i could see what fourth does at the top..

Yeah, with an apexi rev speed meter. Its around $200 and you can get a g-sensor for an extra $50. It has all sorts of cool functions but most importantly for me, it allows for speed limiter removal.

I thought you could eliminate the speed limiter by just clipping a wire in the ECU?

Like limsandy said, Explain yourself!

I thought that was only true of 4th gens. If you can do it to a 5th gen please fill me in. With the rsm, you redirect the speed wire to the rsm and it changes the signal (i think; im no electronics expert).
