Polished Konig Tantrums

Decided I wanted something unique. I had the Tantrums custom polished by a shop here in Houston. No more silver powder coat/silver paint to deal with. They are one-of-a-kind now and look great on the white Max, especially since it is now lowered. I don't have the pics of the car lowered yet, but you can look at my CarDomain page to see what the look like.

They look cool - but have fun polishing them when they need it! It's an all day project! If you don't have arthritis in your hands now you will by next year!

Do yourself a favor and put a coat of wax on them so the shine will last longer (not kidding).

I have a few polished bits on my motorcycle and it's a bee-yotch to keep clean. My buddy has his entire sport bike polished (frame, fork, swingarm, rims, etc..) and it takes him 8 hours to clean when it gets rained on.

You're right. To have polished wheels, they do take extra work, but it's worth it not to deal with scratchs from tire installers and mechanics, rock chips, etc. I put two coats of "Flitz" aluminum polish/wax on them before even mounting the tires back on. Only took about two hours to do all four wheels. This stuff was recommended by the polisher. Been on now for three months, no decrease in shine, no water spots, water still beads when I wash the car-which is at least once a week. Oh, it also helps that I have a 15 year old son that helps with the car mods and maintenance!

Those look absolutely wonderful...I had Tantrums on my car at one point. After looking at yours, I wish I had kept them. Really look great on a white Max. How are those S0-3 tires? I've been looking to change my RE92's soon.

I don't see how polished wheels are going to be lower maintenance than silver painted ones....

They look nice. I'm not a big fan of polished wheels.....or Konig Tantrums for that matter.......or even aftermarket 17"s on the Maxima actually. But they look pretty good.

how much did it cost you to have them polished? I got 17" Tantrums on now and by the way yours look I'l like to consider it myself. I have a black SE though and silver kinda fits good.

Re: Re: Polished Konig Tantrums

It was not cheap. Cost was $150 per wheel. The local Nissan dealer paid for two (scratched the silver powdercoat while having warped brake rotors fixed on the TSB), the local Firestone store the other two (scuffed the lips while changing tires on the other two). Gave me a free chance to get something unique.

I personally think the polished would look good on a black car. But remember, wheels are a personal preference. What looks good to one person may not necessarily look good to the next.

The S-03's are fantastic. Great grip, traction in the wet is about 90% of dry traction. They are no more noisy than the RE92's, ride is about the same, but the traction (and looks!!) is light years ahead. I have 7,000 miles on mine, tread is at 70% remaining, so I can't say how long they will last. Highly recommend.

Wow, that is pretty expensive. Hmm! I actually found myself suddenly more attracted to the aluminum
