Double Din in 2K GXE?
No one in the Audio forum could answer this but I'm sure the 5th Generationers will know the answer:
"I've been searching for an hour but haven't found the exact answer I'm looking for. I have the 2K Maxima GXE with stock stereo (single DIN with pocket underneath). It appears I can add a double din head unit there. Does anyone know whether its a direct fit or do I need to buy an install kit for it (e.g. Scosche)? Thanks."

it depends on the radio that you are gonna put in, usually it should fit in with no problem, but to be on the safe side give crutchfield a call and ask them if your system need a little aftermarket trimming and if it does, spend the extra 20 bucks and make it look nice

From my experience (putting 4 separate headunints in my car), almost all stereos do not fit properly...All of my stereos needed new holes drilled to make them fit properly. You may get lucky and find a stereo that fits right, but I haven't yet. But I also haven't had to get a mounting kit though, either
