? for all AE guys

Anyone know what size bulbs fit the rear turn signals? I bought the 1156, but it didn't fit. After searching, it looks as if everyone says that is the correct bulb for that year. Any ideas?

And what does the rear bulb size have to do with having an AE?? AE's are identical to all 2K-2K1s, except for some cosmetic upgrades and a magic muffler.

I could have sworn it was 1156 also.

I actually have this problem too... If you look at the bulb itself, its 1156 with an alphabetic character which apparently makes a difference. I found the only bulb that I could get to fit the turn signal is the dealer ones and not the over the counter 1156 bulbs. It seems like the "stubs" that stick out on the sides are mounted in a different location than over the counter 1156 bulbs for some odd reason.

It should be 1156. Check to make sure 1. you have the right bulb and 2. you are putting it in correctly. You can even use 1157, same size bulb, except the 1157 is a dual filament, used in the from for parking/turn signals. Since the rear only blinks, you can actaully use either one.

Believe it or not, I know how to change a bulb.

Like screaming VQ said, the studs on the bulb are different. I know it sounds crazy, but I thought maybe someone here might know something. Glad to know it is not just me.

I too had this problem putting in my rear turn signal bulbs...Heres what u need to do. The 1156 bulb is correct, but you need to shave down one of the little stubs on the bulb to make it fit. I used the file on a swiss army knife and shaved it down little by little until it fit snug into the socket. Hope this helps..

Use a pair of nail clippers and just clip off one of the stubs (doesn't matter which one on the 1156). It won't hurt anything at all, and the bulb will still be snug enough to stay in.
