driver side stock speak problem

I bought a 03 max in Sept./2002 and I now have a driver side speaker problem...the sound that comes out from this speaker is low, unclear and very sounds muffled. Interestingly, this speaker can fix itself from time to time but the problem always comes back when I either hit a bump or change CD's (I have the 6 CD in dash changer). I assume there must be a wire loose as this only happens with the CD player and not with the radio.

Now I will need to take it back to the dealer for service which scares me after reading all the posts about how Nissan service sucks....I am fearing they will make the problem worse or put everything back together poorly (more rattles and squeaks)....but what can u do?, got to take it back to fix it...

anyone else have speaker problems similar to this??

From what I've heard it's headunit problem. Take it to dealer. They have to replace it.

Bingo!
Its a headunit problem, they should be aware of this. Its only the CD players, not radio and you can temporarily fix it by banging slightly with the palm of your hand on the left side of the display. (try it, it works).

I have this. And I'm not positive but I think I've seen a TSB for this problem. I have yet to go to the nissan dealership yet because of their terrible service and I don't want to deal with their BS right now. It IS the headunit, and I think its got something to do with faulty laser guiding. This problem is worse than ever on my car, and punching the headunit DOES work. You'll hear the difference in sound.

Oh, and even if you avoid the CD player and just use radio, that will even fuzz up on you from bad reception, which happens to me as well (from another TSB about inteference from a coil or something).

Looks like only the Tape player is good with no problems so far.

driver side speaker problem

I had the same problem on my 2k2 SE. When I took it in to get it replaced, the new CD player didn't work at all. They had to order another new one. In the meantime, they put my old radio back in and somehow the speakers work just fine now. No difference from the right side. Both very loud and clear. I'm still getting the new one but that was very interesting. It takes a while for the radios to come in (at least on the east coast) but I have not had any problems with the old one since they put it back in.

yeah, a well known problem...bring it to the dealer, they really shouldn't give you any problems with it. i explained my situation over the phone and the guy took my VIN right there. if it hasn't happened yet, your CD's will start to skip when it's cold. good luck. my second headunit took 2 weeks to come in.
