Problem with sunroof 2002 SE

Did some work on my max this weekend - kept factory radio but added MB Quart 6.5" separates up front and MB QUART 6.5" coaxial in back, Alpine V12 4 channel and Alpine V12 1/2 channel for the sub. Coincidentally, my sunroof doesn's slide anymore, but it does tilt. Was wondering if anyone knew if this could be related to the work in the doors??? There was a real tricky connector going through the door sill - I bent a pin and the passenger door wouldbn't lock (obviously I fixed that).

I had an issue with the switch sometime before when I originally picked up the car - the sunroof sometimes didn't open right away - but I am spooked now. Before I bring it in I was looking for some tech advice as to what it may be - Bad switch???

If you disconnected the battery, then you need to go through some procedure (listed in manual ?) to get the sunroof to operate correctly again.

Tha's amazing - how the hell could a consumer possibly know that???? To confirm, the tilt function would work though?

Kudos to Y2K2Driver,

http://www.smartnouveau.com/Sentra-Pathfinder.pdf - PAGE 16:

Sunroof Memory Procedure: The electronic sunroof memory (which tracks sunroof position) is erased whenever the battery is dead or has been disconnected. The memory must be reset when the battery power is restored. To reset the memory:

1. Turn the ignition switch ON

2. Close the sunroof (if open)

3. Open the sunroof to the vent position. Hold the switch ON until a "bump" is felt in the sunroof motor. This action resets the sunroof memory.

4. The sunroof is now ready for normal operation.

Interesting, if your sunroof is not responding, how can you follow these instructions? I;ve heard of the disconnect the battery idea before though...

This happened to me on two occassions and it wasn't because of a disconnected battery or anything like that. After minutes of trying to figure it out, a 14 year old girl did it. I don't know exactly what she did, but it was just a combination of tilting the sunroof and playing with the open/close switch.

Works fine now.

I had the same thing when I put in my MQ Quarts! Maybe it's the speakers? Anyway I took it to the dealer and set up an appointment, and on my way back home it started working. I just played with the switch and it works fine. the dealer said it was something about resetting the memory...

I believe the issue with the sunroof occurs if you have left the sunroof open (or tilted) when the battery is disconnected. If the sunroof is closed when this happens then it will work properly. This kind of makes sense as its probably forgotten what state the sunroof was in and when power is restored it assumes the closed condition.

I don't thik its the battery. I used to have this problem every once or twice in a month. I think its the motor unit for the sunroof that's defective or not making a very good connection. The dealer replaced the motor...and it works fine now. its not the battery

I had the same problem with mine. The vent was working but it wouldn't slide open. I dropped it off at the dealer and came back a few hours later. When I picked it up they said that it was working fine and they didn't do a thing to it. Maybe if you drive by a Nissan dealership it will fix itself too.
