AND another MAF bites the dust!!
Thats right with 9100 miles and about 150 miles after I switched to the beloved apexi filter its seeming that I had the same experience as kloogy...no problems with k&n as soon as I switch bam MAF blew. I hate this $hit

I have had my Stillen intake in for about a year now with no troubles at all. (KNOCK KNOCK Mr. Wood) I have also not seen too many people with the Stillen intake with failed MAF sensors. I could be wrong...I just have not seen many.

Someone mentioned a possibilty that the higher air flow with the apexi filter may blow any dirt/grime/grease in the intake path (stuck on the sides) to the MAF. It would be interesting to know the how dirty these regions were when the apexi was installed on these blown MAF occurances. Sounds like it might not be a bad idea to clean everything up before installing a high/er flow intake. What do you guys think? Just a thoery... we're all looking for anything at this point!

So i guess no one make a performance MAF for our Max?? I've had my Injen CAI for about 2 months and no problems yet.. I was also thinking about just for the winter season to take the down pipe out and make it a short ram for winter to MAYBE help out on gas mileage.. Does anyone think that will work??

not sure about part #

Again, I have not had any issues with my intake and I am sure there are a bunch of others that have not had the MAF issue as well. A blanket statement that the 2k2 MAF sensors can not handle an aftermarket intake would probably be too broad. I am sure there is some connection between them all, but, without the same person doing the install, the same work area conditions or the same type of intake, there is no way to properly gauge what the issue might possibly be.

Has anyone with an Injen intake with an Apexi filter, blown a MAF? All of these failures seem to be linked to the frankencar, I should be recieving my Apexi filter soon and I will be installing on my Injen Intake......So I could be the first

I am not sure, but vibration might be the cause of MAF failure. When I installed my intake I secured it very well with the bracket that Steve sent me. I noticed on some pics some people didn't use bracket at all. Without the bracket intake can move a bit when driving.

My experience may be irrelevant but i'll post anyway. I've got 20k miles on my 2k2 now and am still using the OEM intake, the Nissan filter is *extremely* dirty and though i can always change it i decided to keep it like that for a while.
The area around the filter is just as dirty, a couple of dry leaves (go figure), couple of dead bugs, what looks like some grass and a lot of dust.
Thing is, there was a time during one of my Service calls where the tech forgot to put my filter back in after checking it out. I ended up driving a couple dozen miles w/o a filter and the filter cover. It was only when i got to the highway i noticed a rather throaty sound.
Long story short, i expected my MAF to die out a long time ago after seeing all the threads but i guess i've been lucky so far.
Granted, an OEM intake is nothing like the aftermarket... seeing the dirt that's in the intake tract made it look like the MAF was going to give up soon.
note: just to clarify, the bugs/stuff i find in the intake obviously wasn't there when i had that service fiasco. Just wanted to show that my occassional "filter check" tends to surprise me with a lot of foreign objects in the intake.

Hopefully Emax has solved the MAFS

fix by switching to the 2K/2K1 MAFS, but how many miles have you put on it since the switch? Until he and others start logging more miles with the 2K/2K1 MAFS it remains to be seen.
