Hood vib fix

Hood vib fix
I have a 2K2 SE that has the hood vib. The dealer would not perform the TSB on it so I bought and installed the head lamp packs and the hood bumper. I was wondering if anyone out there has done the part of the TSB that calls for gluing the supports on the underside of the hood. If anyone has done this fix themselves what kind of glue did you use and how easy was it? I noticed that on mine I can see where a couple of welds literally broke off and that is where the hood seems to vibrate. Thanks for any help.

DaveB can probably hook you up with the stuff the dealer uses...

I had seen on previous thread you had the hood vibration problem as well. How did you fix yours?

Sorry if I ask too many questions

No, I have not played with the stops...for the exact reason you mentioned.
Maybe this weekend I will take a look at the hood-frame 'joints' and possibly do the glue thing. Quite frankly, most of the time I must just ignore the vibration...then there are other times that it seems like the highest thing on my priority list to fix.
Pretty much a mood thing. Just as long as the latch keeps the frickin' thing from flying up into the windshield.

I don't understand why the dealer wouldn't do it for you. I would just find another dealer. Could they not duplicate the problem? Especially if you have a broken peice..what would be the dealer's issue?

A tech took it for a test drive, (probably at about 55 m.p.h which stinks cause the vib usually doesn't start until 65)and he didn't see any vibration. I called another dealer and they gave me the same B.S. that was car isn't included in the VIN range of the TSB. This is my first NEW car and I am really beginning to hate dealers. All my other cars I took to a local garage where the guys there were really cool. I was thinking about asking my local body shop if they can get me an aftermarket hood (non carbon fiber).

Mine is going in next WED as I was told "they'd take care of it." I applied the rubber strips and stuff too, but it still vibs pretty bad at freeway speeds on windy days.
It seems stupid to say our vehicles weren't included, because no $hit, our vin's aren't in the range because our cars hadn't been made yet! Duh...
I'll let you know how my exp. goes next week.

UPDATE: So my dealer had the 2k2 today. He said they tried adjusting the latch, but that did not take out the "play" in the hood. That's the 1/8" or so you can press down on it at the center when closed...
They ordered the adhesive for the hood supports as I had already applied the headlight strips and bumper.
I'll keep you posted AGAIN soon hopefully...

Thanks for the update. That really sucks that you have to bring it back in when the glue comes in. No one keeps anything in inventory anymore. That's a car dealer for ya!

It did seems to help, took it up to 80 and not much vib'n going on. I felt better today though driving my ranger in some MAJOR high winds on the freeway. Its hood was bouncing, some dodge's hood was bouncing, and a camry that passed me, same thing. Not such an isolated problem...maybe it's normal during high winds I'm beginning to think...
Long story short, I think the TSB application helped some. Just gonna live with whatever else there is left...
