2000 maxima in 1/4 mile

Hi i live in alaska and own a 2000 maxima gxe. The mods so far on it are a UDP, Frankencar w/ apexi, and soon to be a y pipe from budget. My question is what do you think ill run in the 1/4 mile, i have an auto to. BTW the car is fed spec.

anywhere from 15.4s to 15.8s I'd say, depending on the launch.

cool thanks for the reply. I live in alaska so the air is generally pretty cold and damp. do you think i could run low 15's. Do you also know what a elcipse turbo or some other car of that nature run? I just want to know what cars I can hang with and what i can't. Thanks

What? I ran a 15.6 stock and a 15.5 with only a pop intake here in warm st. louis! With midpipe, udp, ypipe, and the nice cold air in alaska, this guy should be 15 flatish or lower with good traction and a good launch. the hard part of getting good times in 2k autos is the launch, heck, my 15.5 was with a 2.36 60'....

Guys, Look for DON IN TEXAS on the forum.. Thats his Userid. And do the Throttle Body Mod for Autos. That should make your Auto's shift a lot faster then Stock.

Don is the same guy who ran a 12.2 On his Auto 4th Gen

thats what i was thinking, the only thing i know you can do to the throttle body is tighten the cable, but thats not a great thing to do.... I learned the hard way.

This is very random... he asked what his car would run...

Did anybody ever conclusevely show that VB recalibration makes you run a 1/4 mile faster ? I know that it is better for transmission etc. - just haven't seen anything to prove that there are some speed gains there... What does the fastest auto NA 3.0 5th gen run anyway ?

good question, not very fast, cuz i think most of the serious modders in the auto 3.0 went boosted, so i'd say low 15 like you or MAYBE high 14, but i don't know conclusively...

See, with people claiming like .5 off with the VB mod... that "would" put me at like 14.6 if I did it,which seems really, really unbleivable for an NA 5th gen (its pretty damn fast even for a modded 5spd...).

I ran a 15.87@89mph with PRCAI, Y-pipe, 2.5in exhaust and VB..
I went to another track and ran the exact same time..

Guys I think, Fuel Type, Oil Type, Filter Type, Air in tires, Clean plugs is the key to a Well Tuned Maxima. My 5th Gen is my 4th Maxima and They all have run about the same for me. About same MPG, Yeah the 5th Gen is faster, but its also got the most Mods on it.

Always use 93 at the Pump
Change MT-90 ever 6-8K miles
Mobil 1 Synthetic 5w30 2K miles
Nissan Filter
Nissan Plugs (need to change in maxima)

If you have a 2k, make sure your ignition coils are in good shape. If you notice a loss in power whether your engine is pinging or not, it is possible that your coils are bad. I swapped out all 6 of my coils last year just for kicks and it made a pretty noticeable difference. Just another possibility to consider....
