Installed my brushed aluminum dash kit

I just installed my brushed aluminum dash kit, looks a lot better than my wood dash kit.

Not to nit pick, but...

Isn't that a synthetic molded aluminum dash kit and not a brushed kit? It sure looks like it to me.

Anyways, that dash kit looks a million times better than the wood!

Re: Re: Installed my brushed aluminum dash kit

What method did you use to remove the wood kit? Did it damage the plastic at all and were you able to remove all of the glue residue? I want to get the molded aluminum kit and realized that it won't cover all of the pieces originally covered by the wood.

Well, it was a real pain taking off the wood kit. I used a heat gun to help loosen the glue. It was fairly hard to remove. Nothing got damaged. I used a lot of rubbing alcohol and adhesive remover to get the glue off and it does come off. The wood kit was destroyed in removing it.

That's good to hear. Any particular brand of adhesive remover that you recommend? Goo Gone?

Looks real nice. Do you recall who's the seller or maker of the kit.

I'd also like to know who you got it from. Maybe someone can start a GD for dash kits from the vendor

You'd rather have the licence plate mounted inside the car so you can have that gold thing up front?? Seems odd.....

The kit looks really great. I was thinking of adding wood trim to my 02 SE. Now I'm not so sure. The aluminum look is really serious and sporty. I'm concerned my SE might end up looking like a cross-dresser if I outfit it with wood!

The new kit looks great... I like it and have considered it on our 2kSE but not sure how it would look on the light grey interior.

How do you like the shift **** compared to the stock one? Was it hard to install? I have considered the AE auto shift **** but don't want to deal with doing too much work and then f-n up the wife's car!

I am putting the stillen kit this June and taking the whole license plate holder off the front and having the holes filled. I am getting my kit painted and front bumper done that why I have my plate up there so I can see if the cops are going to be ****** by me. I have had no problems so I am going to do it. The shift **** is really easy to install and I am still waiting for the e-brake **** to match. Custommaxima still out of stock.

Where did you get the Maxima emblem you put on your dash? Did that come straight off your car?

Good News! If anyone is interested in getting the 5th gen dash kit from the same vendor for $110 shipped, please check the GD forum later on today. I will have a thread for people who want in on the GD. We need atleast 4 people to get that price. I'm waiting to see if other dash kits are available.

Thanks for the vendor info 2001MaximaSe!

Looks Great.

I installed an alluminum dash kit about a month ago. I have light grey leather pearlwhite exterior and I think it really compliments the inside of the car nicely .

I got wood and it don't look cross dressed. It just looks like a luxury sport car. Like a BMW or something along those lines.

Hey...the cross dressing comment was something of a tongue in cheek joke...actually PMAS...I scoured your web page printing the whole series of pics on this and other upgrades. YOUR wood trim looks awesome. The wood trim this guy had wasn't all that great and the aluminum-look was a dramatic improvement. Problem is now I'm not sure which I like better!! I'm thinking I'm leaning toward the same grain you used. We'll see. I'm many months off from doing that anyway.

I still haven't any of the Maximas with a tan/brown interior with a kit. I don't want to get some ghetto cheap interior if it doesn't look good. I would prefer wood in a brown interior.

There was/is a guy that is on the forum that has a home page with pics of his Sherwood green w/ blond interior and and afer-market wood kit. I just can't remember who. It looked really nice. BTW...my wife drives a gle w/ blond leather and it has the factory wood-tone trim. Very nice; although it's fake, I wouldn't have known it. It looks as convincing as the real wood that was in our Lexus. At least Nissan's got the fake wood down better than any domestic I've been in.
