Just to clarify so you don't make Bose look like a bad company, because they are not.

Your speakers are not Bose speakers in your car, they were only positioned by Bose engineers. That is it. There is nothing really special about them.

If your car is new enough, I would take it to the dealer. Half way up and it blows should be covered under warranty for free.

I have Bose speakers for my home theater system and they sound phenominal. Have you ever heard those tiny cube speakers? Awesome... I believe that Bose is a good company and makes quality equipment. The issue here is their name is stamped on the audio system to lead everyone to believe the system was manufactured by Bose. It was a bad move for them, cause now they have tons of people walking around saying Bose is crap, which is untrue. Nissan also did this with the Rockford Fosgate I had in my SpecV. Although, that RF sounded wonderful and as far as I know the only real RF piece in that car is the amp... I can't blame Nissan too much though, they are not the only manufacturer that does this. And I wouldn't have found a Max as loaded as mine that did not have the Bose in it, so I guess I'll have to deal with it. But I do agree, the system in my 03 sux.

It is nothing more than a marketing scam. If I bought a $12 clock radio from walmart, stuck a Bose sticker on it, and then sold it on ebay, I guarantee I could get at least $100 for it.

Home theater design and electronics is a hobby for me (and a VERY expensive one) and not ONE REAL audio store will ever sell a customer a Bose system. Bose is all about marketing and not about engineering (I think the ratio is 70% marketing, 5% to engineering crap to make noise, and 25% to the executives in charge). Bose has recently started to change their speaker line to "look" more like everyone else, but they still use paper speakers and plastic cabinets.

If anybody is in the area and wants to compare their Bose system to mine, bring it on. I will gladly assist in moving all the components for the test.

This subject always get me hot !

Ditto on Bose B.S.

Give me a set of Klipsch horns ANYDAY over a BOSE -- !

At least nobody is breaking into our cars to rip-out our Bose systems!!
I gave-up on aftermarket stereo gear after being broken-into too many times. The sound sucks, but I can LIVE with it - and my insurance guy can too...!

Now if we can just secure those HID's........

I am really interested in this too...I am planning on buying an Infinity Basslink soon on Ebay (only $200-$230 instead of $400!), and bringing it to a car electronics shop to have it installed for another $100.

My real concern with this (they should know how to make the connections to power it and get a signal from the existing Bose system), is where to run the wired remote control to...my 02 Max is loaded (everything except navi) so all the blanks in the dash are used. Where could I have them mount the bass/volume controls? Anyone ever had to deal with this before? I saw one thread on the forum here that mentioned taking the control out of the case, and mounting it behind a blank in the dash, and I think that would be great, if I had a blank to use

Any thoughts? I think that the basslink is one of the easiest ways to get better bass out of our system and still keep 98% of the trunk space.

I have the Bose system as well. i got an adapter from
circuit city for the sub. I am now pushing 2 12" infiny
perfects. i removed the sub all together and ported my 12's
through the hole in the rear deck.

and as for Bose home system. they are good for those people
who like to name drop all of the time. When i lived in baltimore
bose tried to push thier acustimass system. but if you put them
beside a pair of polk's. you will never look at the Bose again.
and both of those are really just middle ground for quality.

I second BLKMAX005SPD's request. I am interested in doing that too.

Did you use the Bose amp? Add another amp in conjunction w/the Bose? Or replace the Bose amp altogether?

Too many questions. Thx in advance.

i added one 10 to my bose system to add a little more deeper bass.
its not hard to do you have to use a line converter to add another
amp for the sub. you can disconnect the bose sub but i left mine on
and just turn it up about half and use the gain on the amp for the
other sub. it sounds really good but i think i am going ahead and
adding another sub. once you have 1 you just want more.

I bought my Bose speakers for my home theater from a high-end electronics store in North Scottsdale, AZ. I spent about 4 hours in the store watching movies in their various theater rooms. Budget wasnt much of an issue. I went for what I personally fel sounded the best... and tt sounds great to me. So whatever dude... I dont regret buying it.
