? about timing advance on a 02

I have been trying to get my timing advanced and idle raised but the dealer will not do it. There is a local shop with the consult but says they don't have the card needed to do my car. Are they just stupid or what are they talking about they need in order to bump up my timing. Matt

Dealer: either too stupid or ignorant to know what you are talking about

Independant mechanic: He's not ing you. The Consult is updated by "cards" that hold that year's car/model information. If they haven't bought the latest cards, then I don't think they can access your car's ecu?

As long as you're remaining in-spec according to the ESM and you're willing to pay labor charges, what's the dealer's concern?

I brought that up and they were saying they didn't have the software to do my timing . The reason I think they have no clue what there talking about is b/c SR20DEN got his timing advanced at the same dealer but the guy no longer works there. I just have no luck finding intelligent people at the dealerships.

I think you answered your own question, blubyu2k2. It's not that they can't advance your timing, it's that they're not willing to take the time to figure out how to do it. They're not stupid . . . they're lazy. (A lot of what passes in life for stupidity is really just laziness.)

I'd recommend that you go to another dealership.
