Mine is supposed to arrive tommorow. Can't wait! It seems that the concensus on the .org is that people are very happy with the Frankencar. I had a CAI on my '99 expedition and it really helped. The truck wasn't as sluggisg after I installed it and it sounded great!

It doesn't mean much. Show me a poll of those owners whose MAF went bad with no intake, or whose MAF is still fine with a Frankencar.
It comes down to the MAF being a POS from the factory.

Just make sure you don't over oil the filter (K&N). Oil is the main cause of MAF failure. I've had my JWT pop charger since 5k and Frankencar pipe since 30k. I cleaned original filter once and now have a K&N filter. no damage at 62k. knock on wood

Howdy folks. I'm the dude that helped install the Frankencar intake on Tarpoon's car(Rob). It's so very nice. Much better than the AEM intake that I put on my old Integra. I now drive a WRX, that would SPANK his Max at any point. Now I'm not so sure that a roll-on race would be mine.

It sounds oh-so nice at 4k rpm, and at 6k rpm, I almost blew a wad in my pants...amamzing sounds. Very responsive, invisible at normal commuter speeds, and burbly(sp?) when one decides to step on the gas.

I have a turbo to play with, but for sound and $$'s for HP, I'm a tad jealous about this mod. Yeah my MBC gives me some serious HP for 50 dollars, but this intake is excellent. Made roll-on drags between us MUCH more interesting. I like the Max alot, much more refined than my Rex, and those HID's....*drool*.

Y'all keep it up, I like havin cars that run with me huh?

2k-2k1 MAF sensors are considerably better than 2k2+.

One reason for the MAF screwin over w/ the Frankencar is b/c of the K&N filter w/ the 2k2 and 2k3. Get an Apexi filter on it instead and there won't be that problem.

No, if anything, it's from improper servicing and over-oiling of the K&N.

I believe there's been an MAF failure even with the apexi filter. The MAFs are just very crappy.

Ur right about the over oiling but w/ an Apexi u don't have to worry about that at all.

logic would lead to that conclusion, but ive seen three people that switched to apexi and the maf failed. of course its only three and im sure there are others with no problems. but like others have said, it boils down to an inferior part. id like to see the results of going from stock to intake with apex. i know oil causes problems but im betting dust does as well.

Just b/c Nissan says that the oil did it doesn't mean that the oil is the cause. Jesus, plenty of MAFs went Tango Uniform w/out even using K&N's (or any intake for that matter). Quit posting BS. Friggin sheep following the rest of the damn sheep...

Hey loudmouth--did you read my first post in this thread? I am the one that said that problems are related to the MAF being a POS.
