Other than the inclusion of the upper tube similarly found in the PR CAI, is the frankencar intake significantly different than the one sold by JWT?

I have heard that the frankencar intake decreases the low-end lag experienced by autos installed with a JWT intake, can anyone with experience confirm this?

Basically, I am trying to decide whether or not I should "upgrade" to the frankencar intake, or if I should just save my money for a y-pipe. Because if they are basically the same two things performance wise, then it would be a moot purchase.

However, I have also heard about how truely awesome the upper tube can make in the difference of the car's sound, something that is unfortunately not included with the JWT intake.

Maybe I should just buy the upper tube individually from Frankencar or PR.

What are you comments on this situation?

yes people have noticed that there isn't that lag in low end. here's read this.

I have been searching for an intake upgrade that is suitable to my needs. I
am a senior at Colorado State University in mechanical engineering, so I have
had fluid flow analysis stuffed up my butt quite a bit I have studied many
intake systems, and haven't been happy with anything. CAI tubing is too long,
I believe it cuts breathing for the VQ engine on high end. Popcharger tubing
is too short, not allowing the air enough time to vortex and increase in
velocity at the lower end.

I am sure you guys know all of this, but being the nerd I am (hey, had to show
something for my $50,000 in school loan debt) I did some analysis of various
intake systems using some engineering and fluid modeling programs. While I
don't know the exact dimensions of your setup, I think I was able to get
pretty acurate guesses from your pics on the site.

To sum it all up, I designed models of your system, a CAI, a popcharger, and a
stock system. I ran each model at different airflow velocities, air
temperatures, and air densities. Like I thought, CAI handles temp changes the
best, but tubing intake length cuts high end air velocity too much. The pop
charger was the worst handling temperature differences, and struggled to make
use of the available air at low intake velocity. The stock system wasn't
actually too bad (once your remove the resonators).

Your system impressed me. It doesn't quite match the low end of the CAI, but
your tubing is still sufficient length to make up for the difference quite
fast. Your system kills the popcharger in low end velocity air flow and seems
to actually nearly match it in the highend. Another reason I like your intake
is by listening to the sound clips. While the CAI, popcharger, and your
system all sound much better than stock, you can tell how well a system is
truly flowing air by the frequency of the sound pulses. Basically, how smooth
does all that air sound while its being sucked in the engine. I was very
impressed with how smooth the sound is with your intake design. The sound is
deep in the low end (long pulses, meaning big gulps of air) and the sound is
crisp and high in the high end (short pulses, air moving in fast).

Like I said, you guys may not know some of this or may know all of this. I
just wanted to tell you that I really research what I buy, and your product
impresses me. What this tells me is that I should buy your intake

that was an email i received from a prospective buyer, i don't think people are getting the 10hp i'm getting with my intake from a stillen on a 2k2 plus the sound is just go glorious, i'll have 4th gens pipes only ready to ship early next week, and have 2k-2k2 ready to go now, BTW what i sell for 65 shipped PR sells the same thing for 100 i hear.
