JMS Products Inc. 2002 Grilles Installed
JMS Products Inc. 2002 Grilles Installed
Well... they are installed finally. I unveiled them at the Tampa Meet on Feb 8th. The Nissan logo has arrived, but I haven't gotten it put on just yet.
Installation wasn't painful. The 2002-2003 factory grilles unbolt with 4 screws, so removal was easy. The installation took about 1 hour total, but I did it in 2 seperate days due to time constraints. The grilles wire-tie into place with ties provided by JMS Products, Inc in the package. I purchased the Diamond-Cut 1/2" Brushed Aluminum top and bottom pieces.
Just thought you'd like to know that they are out there and what the diamond-cut grilles look like installed.

FYI, the fit is damn near perfect.

FYI... the prices listed on their website are $79.95 for each piece. I called them up and told them I was from the .org and got a little discount, but they asked me not to disclose the amount. But let's just say that you can get it for that price shipped to you via USPS Priority mail. So it's not a significant savings, but still every little bit helps.
I will say this, the fit is near perfect as Weasel said. The bottom piece may almost fit too well (it's a very very nice fit). The top piece has a little more room in it than the bottom does, but that's because they designed it to be pushed all the way back AND also to be left forward. I pushed mine all the way back because I liked the lines of the bumper showing up when you are closer.
As far as color, they are NOT chrome. They are brushed aluminum; exactly like the brushed aluminum dash kits. They are also available in black (intended for the lighter colored cars). There are 2 styles (diamond-cut and mesh), 2 sizes(1/2" and 1/4"), and 2 colors (brushed aluminum and black) available, for a total of 8 combinations per grille opening. If you order both upper and lower parts, I'd HIGHLY recommend getting the same style for both parts.
Now... I also asked a question that someone is bound to ask me sooner or later. What do the lighter colored cars do with the middle post showing through the grille? Brian told me that you could do a few things (but not remove it). You can relocate the horns (if you just wanted to). Then you can either paint it black with spray paint (or pro auto shop paint if you have the money) or you can wrap it in electrical tape. I DID NEITHER. I didn't do anything to the post whatsoever. So if you have a darker color, you may not need to do anything. For the lighter cars, it's a quick fix to make the pillar in the center disappear.
I don't know if they have grilles for the 2000-2001. Call them up and ask, but the Grille Tech grille was very nice looking when I had ordered mine. Too bad it didn't fit way back then.
I also asked if they made it available in chrome finish. He said "not at this time". That doesn't mean that you can't spray paint it with chrome paint (high temp). I just didn't want the chrome on my car.

Looks pretty good. Anybody have this JMS grille on their 2002, but in the "PERFORATED" style, not the mesh that this guy has? I wonder if it would match the "RACE" grille-tech lower valence grilles that I have...
I like these designs a lot, I have a Majestic Blue 2K2 with Frost interior. I think what I am going to get is the following
1/4 diamond (the 1/2 looks too large for my liking)
black (brushed aluminum is too bright...)
I'm torn though on the color. I would like to get body color, I think that would look awesome, but also be hard to do. I wonder though. So what does everyone think? Aluminum or Black? Ugh, choices choices....

The install was actually simple. The hardest part was removing the factory grille and the plastic shrouds that cover the bottom of the engine bay (exposing the bumper so you can get your hands in there). The grilles zip tie in, so it wasn't hard at all. I will say that you should position it first, then partially tighten them. Then check the position and tighten again. Lather, Rinse, Repeat until desired effect is achieved.
Overall, on a scale of 1-10 with 1 being the easiest, I'd give this one a 1.7. It's not hard by any means, but can be time consuming (1 whole hour was wasted altogether) if you are a picky person like myself and MUST have perfection. But they look sharp. And they look even better in person.

1) It was 4 bolts. One at each corner. I'll take a picture if necessary. Because it was annoying to get 2 of them with a socket wrench. The bottom 2 were easier than the top 2.
2) Prices are on page 1 of this post.
3) Black on Majestic Blue didn't look right. The aluminum looks way better.
4) The bottom piece is 1 piece. It sits in front of the center bar on the bottom. I actually liked it over the ones that use 2 pieces on the bottom. It makes for a little meaner look when there is a contrast between the body color and the grille color.
Additional Notes: 1/4" seemed too small for me, but that's just me. I'm putting a logo on the top grille soon, so I didn't care about the wide openings. The 1/2" looks less like the mesh style (which I don't like the look of the top grille in mesh) and more like the 2000-2001 Grille Tech grille, just not chromed-out.

i know you must have done this recently but i have taken my grill out probably about 6 or 7 different times and this bolt issue has actually been discussed in threads before. there are only 3.
EDIT: actually there is no frame for the grill that i see. im curious to know exactly what you unbolted.

i think you must be mistaken. all the bolts are along the top edge of the grill right? there is one in each corner which are somewhat hard to get to and only 1 other bolt right in the middle of the top edge.

Yeah I took mine out to install the Hella Supertone horns. There are only 3 nuts you have to remove, and then pop a few of those plastic things along the top.
