I bought my 2k Max used so it only came with one key. I was thinking about putting in a aftermarket alarm with remote start so I needed another key for the remote start. I called couple of the Nissan dealers around Houston and they want between $100 and $180 for another key and to reprogram two keys for my car (you have to reprogram both the new key and the existing one too). I stopped by a professional lock shop, not the one at Home Depot and Walmart, and asked them if they cut key for the Maxima. Guess what they did it for $60 ($25 for the blank, $35 for reprogramming). It took 10 minutes for the whole thing. While I was at it, I also got a key without the chip for $2 just to unlock the car. Granted, the key doesn't say Nissan on it but for $60 I'll take it. So it is another alternative for get a new key for your Max.
