Magazine times vs. our times...
in my last issue of Road and Track an '03 Altima 3.5 SE auto was tested with an observed 0-60 time of 7.1 seconds and a 1/4 mile of 15.4 @ ~90 mph.... now how is it that we, with the same engines on the 2k2, 2k3 get 0-60's in the mid to lower 6's, even with the auto tranny, but the magazines cant? i was further confused when i read that they tested an acura CL-S auto tranny and came up with 6.5 seconds or 6.7 seconds, one or the other. should the altima/maxima be right in line with that? especially since we have more torque... this has been buggin me for a lil while, wondering if anyone can explain

That R/T number is a bit high, but magazines in general often get some crazy numbers. An auto Altima or Maxima with the VQ35 should do 0-60 in around 6.5 seconds. Some are a bit slower, but 6 tenths of a second seems too much to me.

magazines don't get to play around with their cars as long as we do. We don't take it to the track right away. We break it in and get a feel for it. Also, Car and Driver got a 14.4 for the manual altima and they said its the fastest front wheel drive car they ever tested.
But the fastest FWD car Stock is the Dodge Neon SRT-4

Motorweek got a manual V6 Altima doing 0-60 in 5.9 seconds and 1/4 mile in 14.4 @ 100 mph.

I have to chip in here. The other day i was reading a R/T and they said that the 2k max did 0-60 in 8 sec and a 16 sec 1/4 mile. Then i looked at the acura tl-s and it said 0-60 in 6.4. The acura was a 2k, but are they really that much faster? They where both autos too.

An 2K auto Maxima does 0-60 in the mid to high 7's and the 1/4 mile in around 15.6-15.8 when driven correctly. So those numbers were alittle off, but not too much. I just started modding so when I am done I'll run it and post some numbers of my own
