Not sure, haven't been able to keep my HIDs on for very long. Why don't you ask the Honda and VW guys using my bulbs and ballasts?

I don't think anyone will know the EXACT number of hours, and I don't see where this 3000 figure came from.

What I HAVE read is that they will last far beyond the life of the car most of the time, so I wouldn't worry about them burning out on you. On the other hand, if you were simply inquiring about this because of the debate you're having, then you're definitely right--they last way beyond 3000 hours.

By the way, this is with "regular" usage. As you may know, flashing HIDs is not good for them (i.e. turning on and off the headlights repeatedly, or when car alarm goes off). As long as you don't abuse them, you'll have the light for a while (unless some dumbass jacks them off your car).

Mine probably want last that long because everytime I start the damn thing(auto on/off) in the garage they come on and it says constant on and off takes the lifetime down. I hate to constantly switch the switch between auto and manual, anyone else have this issue?

huh, that's why i turn the switch off at night. That way, when i come in the morning, they don't come on. I also have the foglight mod done, so i drive with that until it's completely dark. I switch from off to the parking/fogs pretty quickly so the hids don't come on with the auto. You just have to figure it out.

When I bought my car the dealer said they last something like 7 years. Then again, he was probably bs'ing anyway.
