2002 Maxima ECU info

Can anyone tell me if the ecu on these cars stores the last known mileage of the vehicle? Do any of the computers on these cars store actual mileage? Reason being, I just bought a 2002 SE that was stolen and recovered. The gauge cluster was stolen and I have no way of knowing how many miles were on the vehicle before the cluster was removed. If the car was hooked up to a diagnostic system, would one of the computers display a message that the cluster had been disconnected? Would it give the mileage when disconnected? Is there anyway to find out what the actual mileage is on this car? Any help here would be greatly appreciated! The car was used as a rental vehicle from a major rental company.

Yes the ECU does store the mileage and you can recover it with a CONSULT-II I believe. Check with a Nissan dealer.

Thanks for the information, I will give the dealer a call and see what they say. As complex as cars are now, I figured there might be a way to capture the last known mileage but I wasn't sure.

Thanks again!

No it cannot be determined with an OBDII. The mileage is actually stored inside the gauge in its computer.

Who told you the OBDII can get the info?
