Woo hoo - HIDs, fogs and clearance match (well, almost)

Cool - I know there have been a billion threads on this, but like me a few other folks have been looking for replacements for the clearance lights that aren't too blue, and I think I found them. Installed PIAA Extreme Whites in the fogs, and they look great; but the PIAA LEDs were way too blue and dim, and some of the other replacements that have been used have looked blue in the pics. So I asked a local place for a WHITE bulb, and he recommended Raybrig Hyper R130, which I hadn't heard much about. And they work!! They're not an absolute match (you can tell there's a touch more red in them than in the HIDs and fogs) but they're really close - and bright! They also look better as you get closer to the light path - standing at the front bumper they don't look as bright (but way brighter than stock), but as you get more in front of them they look like mini-headlights .

Here are the pics; they're not the best (think the chip in my Sony was about to explode from light intensity...):

Looks good. I never even TRY to match the HID's. It just never turns out so I used an amber corner light and will be swapping out the fogs with some ion fog lights from Catz or PIAA soon. I want to go HID fogs but it'll be too blinding for other drivers and I also heard the fog light housing has a tendency to crack on the 2002-2003 Maxima.

I did exactly the same thing - I put in an amber clearance light, and was going to try the Lexus look with ion crystals. But, based on recommendations in the .org, thought I'd give the Xtreme Whites a try, and they turned out to be almost an exact match.

Here's a random idea... Has anyone disconnected the clearance lights and just had the HIDs alone? I never use just clearance lights anyways. Would this be bad for the electrical system????

never really thought about doing that. just thought of the need to get rid of the ugly yellow clearance lights. i'm happy with the polarg bulbs.

Yes, that's how I've been driving for months now.. no probs. But it may be a cause for getting a ticket - if anyone notices!

really? For what? They don't really do anything and there are headlights and side markers... not sure why/how you'd get a ticket for this.

Still Unsure

Based on low price and some good results from other .ORG's, I purchased and installed EAGLITE Fogs and HiBeams.

I THOUGHT the fogs looked good at first (certainly better than the stockers) but now I think they look like $hite.

The Hi's don't look too bad, but definitely favor the blue hue --

CLearance lights are MINI MAX - and they look danG good (for me anyway)!!

Before seeing this thread - I was actually thinking about posting a new one to see just WHAT replacement bulbs ARE the BEST??
The standard for this statement is: WHICH BULBS MOST CLOSELY MATCH THE COLOR OF THE HID's...?????

It seems it's a matter of opinion, but I'd REALLylike to see which lights match the blue/white HID spectrum the best.

--- and the first a-hole that tells me to perform a search, gets a swift kick up the tailpipe....!

Agreed. I have no idea why this would be a ticket. I have raybrig and polarg, and I think neither is close enough for my liking. I am gonna just use the HIDs with my 2K2 along with PIAA Extreme White for the H3 and see how I like that. The clearance light is worthless IMO>
