Anyone Order From Nopi?

Hi, Everyone.

I was thinking about ordering some Brembo rotors (blank; vented) for my Maxima.

nopionline.com has the front rotors for about $41 each. Rear rotors (blanks; vented; 5th generation rears are the same as 4th generation rears) are for about $32 each. These are great deals, IMO.

Has anyone ordered from Nopi before? How is their service?

Also, what's the difference between vented and solid rotors?

Thanks in advance. Peace.

I've been thinking the same thing, Kenny. Slotted, dimpled and cross-drilled rotors serve no functional purpose unless you're racing your Maxima. I don't race mine and I'm not particularly interested in cosmetics. So when the time comes to purchase new rotors, I'll probably buy Brembo blanks from Nopi as well. Their prices can't be beat.

I only ordered through nopi once and they delivered on time, just as expected. However, for the 3 years I was a member on hondaprelude.com there were plenty of bad experiences for other members who claimed the sales dept was extrememly incompetent.

Thanks for the heads up, UCF-94lude. It probably wouldn't hurt to have Nopi cross-reference their part numbers with Brembo's part numbers when ordering the rotors. Here are Brembo's part numbers for 2K Maximas:

Front rotors: 25575
Rear rotors: 25542

They are blanks so I doubt they are plated.

That's fascinating given the fact that Brembo states they have plenty of rotors in stock. Check it out for yourself. Brembo's number is 1-800-325-3994.

Same Size??

Are these stock diameter Discs, or are they Upgraded (larger diameter)????

And while I'm at it: does an upgrade in diameter require any special mods to the calipers / assembly??

For that price, I'd LOVE to upgrade to better and larger discs!!!

thanks for the clarify -->

I just spoke to Nopi. According to the salesman I spoke to, you CANNOT pre-order parts. You therefore have no standing order with Nopi, ZAJOBA.

I know what you mean I'm not after flash either. But the nice thing about slotted rotors is if you go with any pad that has metal in it they eliminate any squeaks. And at those prices you could find someone to do it for you and save $$.

TimW. There isn't any plating that can withstand the temps of rotors. At over 575-600F zinc starts to break down and flake off. Cadmium with go a little higher but it's very bad for you and the environment; BTW all auto manufactures worldwide will have cadmium free cars by 2006. Also the thickness of most platings is only about .00015-.0003" thick so on the working surface of a rotor it's all gone the 1st time the car is driven. .0003" zinc costs about 36 cents a pound to plate. It's just a cheap way to make them flashier to make more cash or for longer life on a store shelf.

Just checking Nopi.com site. In the photo gallery they have a 2001 Sentra during the burnout competition.

Talk to me about "longer life on a store shelf", maximaman777. Is there such a thing as "rotor spoilage"? Also, I've heard that you may have to turn rotors if they sit on a shelf for too long. Is that true or just an old wife's tale?

I would think this depends on the amount of atmospheric corrosion that has taken place.

Even stacking a tower of rotors for storage probably does not impart enough force to mis-shape them (unless it is one really tall stack).

I was wondering about that. According to my mechanic, it's NEVER necessary to turn a set of brand new rotors unless the rotors are damaged, at which point they should be returned rather than turned. And I agree that plating rotors is a waste of money.

LMAO good 1.

What I mean is after you machine metal the tooling will add some carbon to the surface which will be more apt to rust. (Even stainlss steel will get some red surface staining from tooling if it's not passivated) So after drilling and or slotting you have a rotor that may sit for a while before it gets sold and it will get some surface rust unless you wax or oil them. Oily boxes don't work and it costs less with better coverage to plate than wax unless your doing very large volume. (most any rotor you buy at an auto pats store is waxed) Even if it has some rust on it there is nothing wrong with the rotor but you want to sell it for $199.95 a set and don't want any complaints... Stillen zinc yellow rotors come to mind. It's all part of the marketing.

You mean I shouldnt lick my rotors? aw man..

Sure, I realize the rotor wouldnt stay plated on the pad surface :/ And I know plated rotors are funky to break in until the plating wears off in a few days. I just hate having rusted hubs. I was noticing that the IS300 has some sort of paint or plating. Nice touch.

Ok, now what?

Well since Nopi is out of stock and you can't pre-order, what is the next cheapest alternative for a high quality rotor?
No cheapos please...

Yep!

I found that after searching some more.
I believe that I sent an email inquiring about the rotors for the front and rear:
NIS4500S
NIS4002S

I hope these numbers are correct for a 2001 Max and those two go together or if it matters at all..
