whos got dual exhaust on a 2003?

by this summer i hope to finally be the owner of a black on black 2003 SE. was wondering if anyone had dual exhaust (one on each side, not 2 together) and pictures of it. i was lookin for a deep throaty sound that will give the car some sound even in idle. just wondering what kind of system will give a maxima that nice sounding engine, any suggestions?

You definitely dont need a dual exhaust to get an exhaust note at idle. my car does already and I have a relatively quiet exhaust. To my knowledge, no 5th gen owner on the board has a dual exhaust set-up yet. Get yours and do it so you can be the first.

Well no member of the org that I know of has Duals on a 5th gen, but I have seen a black 2K or 2k1 on Burbank with dual. Sounded pretty good and looked kinda sweet. U dont need duals to get a deep sound at idle. If u want a deep, and I mean VERY deep exhaust note at idle a magnaflow (which I have and personally think its too deep) or a flowmaster would also do the job just fine.

You'll have to cut out your spare tire wheel well in order to get the dual exhaust to fit. That's what everyone told me when I asked this same question a while back.

Save weight and go with a better flowing single outlet. It's all about flow...and if you save weight in the process, then so be it.

damn... dual exhaust looks so badass, but you got a good point about it having less weight. def something im gonna have to look in to, any other suggestions about good sounding exhaust? and whether or not a cat back or full exhaust would be better?

we smashed my spare tire well up about six inches in, nearly half of it. the 5th gen's spare tire well is not in the middle of the trunk for some stupid reason, so would either need to move the fuel evaporation box or do some serious smashing. this is to say that you want 2 mufflers and not 2 pipes.

i would go with a greddy catback.. throaty and deep all the time.

not many people around here will take the time and effort to do something extreme thats why it hasnt been done yet, or at least seen around here.

question,
if you guys did wnt dual exhaust so bad, why didn't you just get the altima? The extent of modifying the spair well and everything seems a bit rediculous. don't you think?

I like the maxima fine with the single exhaust, if i wnted more exterior looks and didn't care as much as the interior etc I would have considered an altima I think.

I dont think buying Altima just to have a twin exaust is that good of a reason. I like the Alty but in my opinion maxima will always be better. BTW about smashing the spare and all the other rediculous work, isn't it great to do somethn that other dont have.

yeah, in order to get a dual exhaust, you have have to move the fuel systems that are on the opposite side of the tire well, otherwise you got a major fire hazard.

not true.. you have to "smash" the tire well or cut it either way so the fuel system never needs to be tampered with, nor should it be.

so if you did "smash" the tire well would there still be room for the exhaust to come out symmetrically? i'm thinking the fuel system is pretty far back, and it would hard to get it perfectly symmetrical, in which case why even bother.

I would suggest that you put a bet on me, I'm just waiting for the endless winter to be over and my 5th gen will be dual exhaust very soon.
