Blowtenza Balancing Problems???

Ok - I hope to god I don't get flamed for this....

I've got 7200 mi on my stock blowtenzas -- just got 'em rotated & balanced by Kaufman Tire, local ATL chain, who purportedly uses a Hunter 9700 Roadforce Analyzer (I asked BEFORE I paid!).

Before I went I had no shimmy or out of balance issues - NOW, mostly at 60 mph, I have a noticably annoying shake in the right front.

Have there been any major issues with the Blowtezas doing this??
Or should I just go back and make them re-check the balance??
Of course, I WILL do # 2, but in the meantime......

I hate that I have to go back for something that should have been done right the first time, dangit!!

Yes, I've done the search, and am pretty up to speed on the Blowteza posts -- don't remember anything on chronic balancing issues on stock rubber.

thanks in advance.

Hey - YOU all NEEDED something to answer, there's no good posts on here today!!!

Definitely go with number 2. I've had my wheels rotated/balanced by the Nissan dealer I bought my car from but I didn't have any problems with it.

Hey man, something is definatly wrong because the same thing happened to me and I posted thread called "wheel balance and roation." A lot of people told me to take it in again... I had to take it in 4 times before it was even close to the original.. I think these "blowtenzas" are weird a bit. Mine would also create a problem, except it was above 50 and fine before 50. at 70 it would be real bad... take it in again and again til they do it right... BTW.. i got mines done at Wal-mart. They were fine with my accord, but F*ed up my Maxima... They also scraped paint of my titanium package rims...

Ouch!

The first thing I check when I pick-up my car --- DID THEY SCRAPE MY RIMS??!! Had a few friends have this problem at cheesy shops....I'm pretty particular about where I go now.
These guys are pretty good.

That stinks! One good reason NOT to go to walmart.

Thanks for the input -- I knew I wouldn't get much love on this one.

The shake at 60mph is DISTINCT, and I had NO problems before that.
I HATE these tires.
I wish I could just swap-out now. Damn this recession--!
Maybe if they can't fix it, they'll give me a deal on a new set?!

Wishful thinking....it's not that big a deal to them.

I'm definitely going back-in sat. morn.

thanks!

If the tech knows what he's doing, a 9700

will not fail -period.
Go back and get them to do it again and ask the teck you show you (on the machine's readout) the actual road force before and after the process.

This machine is far more than a balancer...it will actually match the high point on the rim with the low point on the tire to get the most 'round' combination possible, then it balances that.

If the tech cannot show you the 'before' and 'after' data, the shop is junk and the tech is using the machine just as if it were a regular balancer -which is really what this machine is definitely NOT

I've had the blowtenza's balanced something like 6 times, I've actually lost count. The Nissan dealer sent me to a firestone dealer who actually replaced all four at a greatly reduced price last summer, but the car still vibrates. Although the firestone guys don't think so.

Since Ive been running my winter tires/wheels I'm in heaven - nice and smooth, quiet, with better performance. If Spring ever comes I'll find a shop with the new Hunter balancer and failing that I'll scrape togther the big bucks for some Michelins.

Resolved.

For anyone interested:

Problem solved -- yard apes didn't use the Hunter 9700 on my balance.

Instead friggin' knuckle-dragger decides to balance on the dino machine, and randomly added a wheel weight to my right front wheel.

Naturally, it was the ONLY one out of balance - and when removed was totally fine.
Dang things didn't even need to be BALANCED after 7k miles.

Imagine that??!

If you want the job done right, ask for the Hunter 9700 Road Force Analyzer - and ask for before and after readings on EACH tire.
