Sequential Fuel Injection or Multiport Fuel Injection. Which type of fuel injection system does the engine use?

I believe it is a sequential fuel injection system or SEFI.

I think Maxima's since the beginning uses Multiport injection system. If you take a look under the hood there is a fuel injector for every cylinder. I think a sequential system only has a single injector that fires sequentially.

Well here it goes. Might be a mistake or two in here.

1st = constant fuel injection. circa very old Mercedes and old BMW. It injected fuel all the time.

2nd = TBI or throttle body fuel injection. Basicly a carb body w/ a single fuel injector. Fired when ever probably all the time too but at diff timing rates.

3rd = Sequential fuel injection: my guess. Injectors on each cylinder or maybe back on the manifold but might have fired twice per firing stroke instead of just once per firing stroke.

4rd = multiport fuel injection. Injectors on each cylinder. Firing only once per firing stroke. Basic design is still around even today. It's been around since the early or mid 80's.

I think you may be right - but i thought both Sequential and Multiport systems had ports for every cylinder. Any one know for sure??

go to

http://www.howstuffworks.com and read the article on fuel injection. sequential fuel injection fires individually I believe, while multi fuel injection just fires when a revolution of the crankshaft occurs.

both types of injector technology includes an injector per each cylinder. that info may not be entirely accurate, so check the website.
