For Those W/ BOSE Left-Side Cutout Issue.... Please Read
So I have recently started having the issue again with my BOSE system. You all know it, the left side cuts out w/ CDs and I get it back by openhand b**chslapping the left side of the HU plate. Anyhow, I have two questions about this because I am going to take it to the dealer. Actually, maybe more than two...
1) When it occurs, if I don't hit the faceplate, will the cutout stay after I shut the car off and turn it back on?
2) When I take it to the dealer do I just drive up, leave the stereo on, and demand that a service rep experience the issue?
3) Will printing out the threads here on the .org help me out when I go it?
4) For those who have had the HU replaced, do I just go in, have them look @ the HU to make sure it's having the issue, and then they will order a replacement?
Sorry for all the questions, I am just leary of my dealer, and want it to go as smooth as possible. Thanks a lot!

1) Not sure as my Max doesn't have the Bose system, but I've had both left front speakers replaced already because of distortion.
2) By all means let the advisor see, or hear in this case, the problem as it is happening to verify the complaint, unfortunately I've seen this enough times to go ahead and replace the unit even if the tech can't get it to occur during testing, no sense making the customer suffer over a known glitch.
3) Not really, anyone writing Nissan service for more than a month has seen this issue with the Bose systems... besides, I don't think the advisor will cherish reading all the "Nissan service sucks..." statements which invariably make their way into those types of threads, even though it is truthful at times!
4) Radio units are not stocked at the dealerships, they are made for Nissan by separate vendors and they supply the replacement... which is usually a failed unit that has been rebuilt at their factory... anyway it will take two trips to get the job done.
Good luck!

I just took mine in for this yesterday. First, search for a thread that was posted last week regarding this. I printed it out and took it to the dealer (so I don't have it now). The idea is that it's not the HU but rather the connectors. The dealer was able to duplicate the problem (car must be moving) and they are awaiting word from Nissan on how to proceed. The info I provided was significantly helpful for them.
I will search for the thread and post it if I can.
