Got Pulled Over For Tints And Clears...
but I didn't get a ticket. It was the weirdest thing. I'm driving back home from dropping my girlfriend off at about 1 AM and I pull up to a red light and I see two cops in a parking lot literally 20 feet from the light facing the traffic. I'm thinking to myself, oh no, they are defintely going to pull me over. Sure enough, the light turns green, I drive off, and they pull out of the parking lot and no more then an 1/8 of a mile later the one cop pulls me over.
women cop.
her: license, reg, insurance
me, while reaching for it: i hope i didn't do anything wrong
her: well, your tint is kind of dark and your corner lights are blueish
me: i wasnt aware that that it was illegal to have those lights. (knowing damn well they are illegal)
her: yeah, you can't have those lights in the sides
me: well, i have the original bulbs at home (hoping this would ease the blow)
her: hold tight, let me run your license
I'm thinking the whole time, please don't come back and tell me there is a warrant out for my arrest. For those of you that read the thread a couple of weeks back you will understand this. Otherwise, click the link below.

she comes back after 1 minute
her: he ya go (handing me my license)
me: ???
her: just so you know, you can't have those colors in the side markers, they have to be orange up front and red in the back. only policemen, firemen, and ambulences can have colored lights. (then she went on a whole speach for like 2 minutes anout what colors every different vechicle can have) (she was very nice though)
me: wow, i'm sorry. I wasn't aware of that.
her: and your tints are too dark up front
me: ok, i'll have to take care of it
her: ok, have a good night
Now, i'm thinking, why did she pull me over? just to run my license and see if i was clean? or she thought i might have been some punk drinking and driving? It was odd that she let me off like that. Not even a warning. maybe cause i was nice to her? It was just weird. What's everyones thoughts?

Just a simple pull over and check. Nothing to be worried about.
However if she marked you about your lights and tint and another cop pulls you over next time, he may see that and next time will not give a warning but a HIGHER ticket than normal because you failed to obey the first warning.

I doubt it Dixit. She never officially gave him a warning so the chance of her going to put that into the records is very slim. If she was going to spend the time to make comments on him, it would have been just as easy for her to give you the ticket. I have a feeling though, that the other squad car had a male officer in it, and he told her to pull you over. I cannot see a female driver pulling over a car for lights and tint, they know its a guy thing, and male officers know how to make those with lights and tint cry.

Here's my .02:
Contrary to what PHATMAN believes, most female Officers are pretty good at what they do, and some are even more hardcore than their male counterparts, because they feel that they need to be in order to compete in Police work. If that same female Officer sees your car again, and you haven't fixed what she mentioned, I'll bet dollars to donuts (HA... donuts) that she will pull you over again and ticket you.
my wife got pulled over for the polargs in the clears at college.
she was like:
her: why did you pull me over, i know i wasn't speeding
him: just give me your lic/reg
her: i didn't do anything wrong(being rude at this point)
him: your side lights are illegal
her: what lights?(playing stupid)
him: these lights here (pointed out)
her: well this is my husbands car, and i don't know anything about it.
him: well tell him to fix it.
her: ok
so i put the correct bulbs in them.

A) Your car is flashy. So it's an easy target for cops. They have a couple of reasons for pulling you over right off the bat (tints, lights, etc.).
B) You think too much about getting pulled over.

Getting your license suspended because of points on your license, raised insurance prices, fees for tickets, and etc. are no game 'krazyd.' Trust me, I know first hand...

Glad you are friends with a bunch of hating cops. That is an incredibly close-minded and stereotypical things for your friends to say. This is the reason why people with rims and lowered and nice looking cars get pulled over before the POS doing 30 over on a city street. But, of course, I'm SURE they teach them to do that in the academy, its probably under 'racial profiling' for 'rice.' I have several officers of the law as friends also, so that doesn't mean much. The reasoning behind the lighting laws is 'impersonating an emergency vehicle.' First off, our side markers are not visible from the front, so no one will look in their mirror and be like 'holy **** its a maxima police officer I have to pull over.' Secondly, they do not flash, we do not have sirens, and I have yet to see a maxima cop car, although I hear they exist somewhere. The precaution with tint is, officers can not see what is going on in the car as they approach, so if the person inside is holding a gun, waiting for the officer to approach his window, he could shoot the officer without him even knowing. I find it hard to believe you have never gotten a ticket or pulled over for 'tard behavior' unless you are 16 and got your max and license yesterday. And last of all, the name is PHATMAN5050, PHAT, P5050, but not Phatty, I am not 12.
