In Dash Air Filter?

Have an 01 Maxima, owned about 6 mos, 16k miles, dealership suggests pulling off dash ($50) to check the in dash air filters, and will replace if necessary, another $50....is this just dealership up selling? Or a legit concern?

Thanks

Yes you can buy it and install it. It actually does work-

Some came with it, some didn't.

Have you done this? I need to replace mine and tried taking apart the glove box area, but the housing to get back in there seemed hung up on something around the center console/dash. I didn't want to pull too hard and break anything, but I did account for taking out the number of screw and locations that the instruction show.

You have this happen?

There's a socket with yellow wires which goes to passenger airbag and someone said it better off left alone. You can actually detach it from the glove box without disconnecting and proceed with filter after that. I didn't try to disconnect because someone said that it could damage SRS :got me:. I did install filter on my car myself, it came from factory without one.

Mike.
