Is 110 lbs a big difference for "max load" tire rating?

I have a 2002 Maxima SE.
Stock Potenzas 225/50/17 have Max Load of 1433 lbs.
Sumitomo HTR+ 225/45/17 have Max Load of 1323 lbs.

If I want to use the HTR+ @ 225/45/17, would
the difference of 110 lbs less per tire for Max Load
be too much of a deficit and cause a safety issue?

Anyone using this tire on stock '02 SE 17x7 rims
have problems associated with this?

Thanks for your input!

there are plenty of people here using them (search on htr and you'll find out who).

any time I have questions about tire stuff I don't understand I a) read here, then b) call tirerack and ask them.

they told me a snow tire I had picked outdidn't meet the load rating (never aksed what the rating was, duh on me).

good luck

I don't know much about the tires or loadings, but I can't imagine that difference would really matter. 1323 lbs/tire, that means the total load of the car + passengers would be 5292 lbs, you'll likely never see that. Even when you figure there's more weight in the front, the front tires can hold 2646 lbs, where as under normal loading with 2 front passengers they hold around about 1061 lbs each (figuring 60/40 weight distribution, I'm not sure what it really is). To fully load the front tires, you would need to have two 350 pound front passengers. Hope that helps.

I really dont know, but if your max came with 16's (GXE or GLE), those tires only had a 13xx rating. :/

So who here has 225/45/17 tires on their stock 02 SE 17" rims?
Does it look really weird in wheel wells?
Any problems when you weigh the car down with groceries on a trip
to Costco or Sam's Club since the 45 profile tires
have 110 lbs less Max Load per tire than the stock 225/50/17?
