Dead Petal Installation

I want to install a dead petal for my '03 SE to replace that terrible stock vinyl piece thing....my question is do I have to drill in order to screw it in? Is it steel behind the carpet? If drilling is required, any danger in messing with anything inside?

Thanks,

Quite a few people have replaced their dead pedals recently do a search on it. You should beable to safely drill into the plastic dead pedal you have now with out damaging anything. I haven't replaced mine yet but others have. Good luck!

I just put the screw in place, took my cordless drill and drilled until screw went in halfway. I tighten by hand with screw driver.

Once screw is in don't tighten to hard just until snugged.

good luck.

Thanks for the reply's!

so can I assume that behind the carpet is just plastic? If that's the case, can't I just take some screws and push/drill them into place through the carpet into the plastic?

Thanks,

Thats exactly what you do. If you need some more info go to my homepage on page 2 and there are pics and a link to the guy (PMAS 76) who has detailed instructions on how to mount the dead pedal.

Sweet scent of dying, nay, dead petals, floating silently through time, bidding you adieu before the cold grasp of eternal rest rolls in like the fog of war. Rest well dead petals, you shall soon live again.
