I am having a problem where when i turn on my rear defroster, I get a lot of radio interference. Has any one ever heard of this.

Is your window tinted ? If so - it could be metal in the tint.
Mine is not tinted but yet I do have a reception problem.

Somebody here:
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....efroster+radio

said that it can be caused by scratches in defroster lines...

do these Max radios get interference with a cell phone goes off really close to it? i havne't noticed since I rarely talk on the phone while driving, and havne't had the max long. I know Camry's and 3000GT's radios start tripping.

Occasionally my phone will trip up the radio. I think a lot of it has to do with the type of network your cell phone uses. I know my GSM phone will occasionally trip the radio up, and my dad's old Nextel phone did in his Infiniti. But my mom's CDMA phone and my sister's TDMA phone never seem to cause any problems.

I think the radio antenna is built into one of those grid lines on the rear windshield, so it makes sense that when you turn on the rear defroster grid (passes electricity through the grid) that it might cause interference with regards to the reception.
