I agree...being 16, I have seen a lot of dumbass kids pull stupid stunts like donuts and stuff in the school parking lot....any everyone's goin awww....so cool.....im like what a **** head. LOTS of ricer boys too....loud cars, and no pull. Driving a maxima, I have had lots of guys coming up to me (with 92 accords and stuff), asking me to race....

Seriously, use common sense. If you have a group of 'D' students and a group of 'A' students, who do you think the more responsible group is going to be? You're always going to have aberrations like your Saab guy, but think about it. It takes a responsible, determined person to keep their grades up. Notice I didn't say "intelligent", because in high school that means little.

Driving is all about realizing the consequences of your actions, and assuming the responsibility of being behind a ton and a half of steel. Doing well in school obviously isn't a perfect correlation, but it's no different than them giving discounts to married people or being 25 or older (at least in Michigan, YMMV). The company's assumption of risk is less, and working hard in school is just one small piece taken out of your insurance bill.
My point is when you don't have anything else to worry about (food, clothes) when you are in school you can concentrate and get good grades. When you have to work to pay your bills school can sometimes come second. I guess your opinion of people who don't get A's is very low, taking nothing into account about the situation of their life.

Trust me, it wasn't on a car. In high school I had a 1972 Volvo 164E for my first car (it was my age) and a used Chevy Spectrum for my 2nd car. I've got no idea how someone in high school can afford a new Maxima.

Since we're talking strictly about high school, there's a reason states only allow you to work so many hours. When I was a junior and senior in HS, and worked the max allowable amount of hours at McD's. I pulled mostly Bs. If someone can't hold a job and get decent grades, they should find a job that lets you study like night gas station attendent or an on-campus job. Again, that gets back to taking responsibility for your grades/life that will probably translate to the road.

drug dealer. but obviously no kid working a legit job in hs can afford a maxima and insurance to go with it. i got my max 2 months before end of senior year as a graduation gift. however, i paid 5k towards it.
