now i am a true maxima owner..

Two reasons why I think I have become a true maxima owner.

1. I've been sending my 2002 SE to the dealership +3 times just to get the damn BOSE 6CD in dash changed for another defective unit.

2. I've got my HID lights stolen for the first time this week... (luckily they only took the right side) but they messed up my hood, because i think they just put a crowbar between the hood and housing for the lights, just popping the whole thing out... very quick job... but why didn't they take the drivers side?!?! cops say they probably just got spooked by something.. say my car is now a marked vehicle... they will come for the drivers side soon... i'm going paranoid...

Yeah, ain't that the truth. I've only had my 03 since Monday, but that Bose stereo is disappointing. The bass is ok once you turn it down to dead '0', but even with the treble at '5' the high-end just isn't there. Plus, even cheap GM stereos have a mid-range setting, it's ridiculous you don't get that here. Do Nissan engineers just listen to rap or what???

What problems are you guys having with the in-dash changer? I haven't tried CDRs yet, any problems there?

HoonMAX - The cop was right, you ARE driving a marked car now. They'll wait until you fix it and come back for the new set of lights. Paranoia has nothing to do with it, you have legitimate reasons to worry.

These a$$holes have changed how I live my life. I don't drive anywhere unless there is a garage or valet to leave my keys with. At work if I need to work late, I go outside and move my car as close as possible to the building or bright lights before it gets dark. Everyone thinks I'm paraniod, I think I'm being proactive.

Get a garage, then sleep tight until this FAD passes, or you end up selling your car... whichever comes first.

RichP - There is a connection in the headunit that comes lose through regular driving. This connection, or lack thereof, causes our left side speakers to come in and out depending on which pothole you hit. You might be lucky in that your unit may be the new improved version, and you'll never go through the hell of waiting a month for your replacement

Well, my car has a build date of 10/02, so I guess time will tell. I drive on some pretty crappy roads, so if there is indeed a problem it will certainly surface.

The day after I brought my Max home from the dealer, it did actually do the "click click click" on my Metallica Garage Days disc (store bought, in the Disc 1 slot in the changer). After I popped it out and reinserted it, it hasn't done it since, and I've had a ton of discs in and out of that changer in the last week.

Since I have 35,700 miles of warranty left, I have a while left, but I'll keep an eye on it.
