Looking at a 2001 for 17k$
I am looking at a 2001 maxima GXE i think with leather, sunroof and all the gadgets with 104 000 kms (about 62 000 miles) for 17 000$ canadian (10800$ u.s) . Its an auto and the guy that owned it is in his sixties. It seems to me like a good deal. Is the mileage too high for the price or should i go for it. Its like new condition.
That isn't too bad, plug the specific options into www.edmunds.com and see what the 'right' price is for it.
Odds are, since it was an older guy, you probably found yourself a screaming deal. A meticulous interior indicates he probably took excellent care of everything else, too. Make sure you look at the tires, brakes, fluids, the usual stuff. If you have a family mechanic you trust, it wouldn't hurt to have him look at it.
I wouldn't worry too much about the mileage. It is kinda high, but a 2-year old car with that many miles is going to be mostly highway driving.
Do make sure some of the 50,000 mile(?) services were done such as tranny fluid change and coolant flush. (maybe an 01 or 00 owner can ring in here.. or find an 01 manual online)
