thanx, my car(max 2k) is in deep trouble alright. i did not check the code yet but the check engine light blinked, while the engine was shaking like hell. unfortunately i did not have time for repair. it's been like for couple of days now.

I'm not sure if autozone is still doing this but they were reading trouble codes for free, so drop by and see if they will read the code for you then just check it against the link.

Sounds like a bad coil (misfire). I had the same problem not too long ago.

The coil was replaced under the powertrain warranty. There is a TSB out for bad coils on 2K Maxima's. You'll need a code reader to confirm the problem, or the dealer can do it in about 30 seconds.

I'm not sure of the TSB number at this point, but I'm sure someone can help you with it. If your car is a 2000 with less than 60K miles, it should be covered (assuming that the coil is the problem, of course).

i saw the TSB. I am running under 60k but this car is a lease car. I think all warranties(basic, powertrain, etc) are limited to 36k miles. can someone confirmed this? bad news~ i'm currently at 42k.

The basic warranty is 36K miles, but the coils are covered under the powertrain warranty, which goes to 60K.

The fact that the car is leased is irrelevant - they have to honor the warranty. Mine is a lease too, and they covered the replacement coil (AFTER I gave them the TSB info, naturally).

great to hear that~ i'm gonna drop my car off in next 2 days. just another quick question, are air flow meters(mass flow sensor) a part of powertrain also? i mean i guess they are. cuz i just replaced them 2 weeks ago and it was not under warranty. Actually, they didn't even bother telling me if it was or not. i just had them replace it and it was costly.

sorry for too many posts. hehe anywayz,i just looked at the warranty info manual but the spark plugs, ignition coil and wires are all under emission performance warranty rather then the powertrain. And so are all the sensors. Emission performance warranty is under 24k miles. how many miles are under your car?
ouch~ it's going to be another costly repair.

My coil was replaced under warranty at 32K miles. If it turns out to be a bad coil, just make sure you tell the service manager that you know there's a TSB out on the coils that covers them up to 60K. If you can, find the TSB first and bring it with you. If I remember correctly, the TSB stated clearly that the fix was warranteed until 60K miles.
