Slow windows and smudge on guage cluster

I could not find any proper lubrication to buy from home depot to do this job. Anyone know the exact brand or type?

I have a smudge on the guage cluster that sort of looks like hazing. If i wipe it with water, it goes away, but comes back. Are there any plastic polishes that make the guage cluster like new again?

Are your windows slow due to a new tint film or a worn out motor....?

Is the 'smudge' on the plastic that covers the guage cluster? Have you tried using a glass cleaner like windex?

im sure i read somewhere here to use a "teflon" lube for the window guide. The motor is bogging. I dont think it is dieing because if i dont roll the window all the way down, it rolls up fine.

the smudge is like hazing in the plastic. I think i accidentally dripped armor all or something on it and smudged it.

If the smudging is caused by something that is oil-based, water is not going to clean it. Try cleaning it with Windex. If the 'smudge' is on the inside of the plastic you will have to open up the cluster.

BTW

As for the smudge if Windex doesn't work you could always try a clay bar, it works great on the headlights.

As for the windows if they are tinted learn to deal with them being slow and squeaking quite often. You will need to re silicon about once every couple of months.

yea.. they are tinted. Why does tint cause it to do that? does it add THAT much thickness?

yes rum makes all the difference the entire staff is bouncing off walls for the rest of the workday (and also makes for some interesting answers to library questions)

I have no idea why tint makes the windows screech...I had my car tintless for 1 whole day (jeez it was agony) before I got it tinted...and its been doing it ever since

I like to think that since MY car is a girly car...it's cause her ISH IS TITE ---hence the screeching ( and you know how LOUD women are when the ISH IS TITE

btw...I have jacked your thread

Hey,
I have the answer to your smudge problem on the gauge cluster.
The problem comes from the Armor-all. This prodict and may other products actually pull oil out of the plastic material. ( Plastics are Petroleum based ). This is why armor-all is not good for your dash. I am still looking for the best product out there but that is another topic.
Anyway, the fix for your hazing problem is to spray your clear gauge cluster cover with WD-40. Let it sit over night then wipe off with a soft cloth. If you have a severe problem, you may have to repeat.
As stupid as it sounds, it works. I have had this problem on both my '98 Max and my '02 Max. I have never had a problem with any other car so it must be the plastic material that Nissan uses. I am looking for a product that does not do this.
Until then, I have a cardboard insert that I put over the gauges when I clean up the Max.
