5th Gens With Viper Alarms
I had a viper alarm installed in my car a while back by someone whom I can no longer get a hold of. I recently lost my spare set of keys and need to get them replaced. The dealer is going to charge me 45 for the key and another 50 to program it. I am wondering if the immobilizer system had to be disabled when the Viper (550 ESP) was installed. If so, should I be able to use an unprogrammed key, or do I still need to have it programmed? Also, how would I go about programming a new viper remote to work?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks. I was curious just in case I didn't need to spend the extra 50 bucks on programming. Oh well. I'm going to pick up another 467V remote for my viper (it got lost with the key). How would I go about programming it to work with my alarm?

You have to have a PROGRAMMED key in the 5555u box in your car. You do not by-pass the emobilizer. You simply tap into it. When you start your car with the remote, the key that is placed in the box transfers a signal to the emobilizer to start the car.

if you do get it programmed, you'r gonne have to take t he key out of the 555u as well and have them program ALL the keys. there is no extra charge. 1 key or 3 keys, it's the same fee for programming. so you get them all done at once.
