How often do you oil your K&N cone filter?

Once again the search feature is making me post this. My cone filter is dirty as hell but the instructions only recomend reoiling every 50,000 miles and its only been 10,000. They say the dirt that collects on the cone helps filter but my cone looks like its too dried out. Thinking about reoiling but if its better to leave it like that i would...any thoughts?

I oiled mine at about 10,000.. but it was part of a spring tune up. changed my plugs, cleaned the TB, and oiled the filter.

I do it every other year (24k-30k miles), just because it looks like it needs it (like you said). that's on 3 other cars, i've had over the past ten years. just to give you an idea on how long. At first i did it once a year, but i figured that cleaning it too often would somehow damages the filter element. Yes, it is always the first mod i do !!

The only time that you should oil the element is after you clean it. The claim is 50K between cleanings, I did mine at 10K, I would not recommend applying oil unless you have cleaned/dried the element.
