beat 350z in 2k2 6 speed

I know some want believe this, but ill give you the story. I saw 350z i tried to intice him to race, but he didnt take the bait. So we pull up at a stop light, but it was at an underpass and those are dangerous, and i asked him if he would race. I told him I just wanted to compare. Seeing how they share the same blood and all. He said it was two dangerous, so i said when we get to the end of the intersection we both go go. He said ok. So i keep it in first and were about lined up doing about 20. We get to the intersection and I jump the throttle a little before him and pull about one car length. I hit all my gears just right, and I was expecting him to come catching up any minute. He never did, and I could see his head lights in my sideview. At 90 I shut it down. He cruises up and gives me a thumbs up and we parted our seperate ways. Brotherly love I guess.

probably the Z was tryin to take it easy cuz from what I interpret he was at least slightly reluctant to race
and remember his car is newer (unless urs is a 2K3) and more expensive

either that or he had a 5 speed autotragic...

it may not have been more expensive either...some Maxima's sticker for $30,050 and some 350Z's sticker for $26,700...

if the Z had an automatic, it should have been an even race...and judging by the fact that the Maxima got a jump on him, it looked like it was otherwise an even race.

but I would agree that the 350Z owner may have been reluctant to race because his car may not have been completely broken in...

maybe

He was definitely manual. I could hear him hold first gear. He was young, as in a teenager, and why would you risk getting a ticket for going 40 over speed limit if you were not trying. I am an expremely fast shifter and know the shifts in the maxima pretty good. Maybe he didnt know how to get full potential of his car.

I know a guy with a 350z, who i told the story too. He said he would race me to see if maybe that guy just sux. So we'll see.

Definitely believable. With the right driver in the Maxima and the wrong driver in the Z, it's a close call.

I think its all about the driver. I have seen far too many 350Z's at the track running high 14's low 15's, and with a manual transmission. Its really about the driver.

my brother raced my friend's Z in my car.. (while I was on vacation ) either way, he said it was an even race until about 70-80 mph when the Z started to pull away very slowly. It was about half a car by the time they stopped at 100. It's a tough call though, the other guy isn't exactly the most aggressive driver. And my brother doesn't know my car or know how to launch it like I do.

No doubt the Z has better high end and rwd, but really it's close enough to call it a driver's race.

I would disagree that it's a "drivers race"....The Z puts ~20-25 more RWHP down than a 02 Maxima.

The difference between a good driver and a bad driver can easily exceed half a second.

I've seen 2k2 6 speed maximas run 15's...

what's up with that?

IMO a "drivers race" is when 2 equally cars match up and go at it. A poorly driven Z would be a great race with a 2k2 6 speed, but its not really a drivers race IMO.

BTW.....I was checking my350z.com and noticed a 350Z ran a 13.6@104

I don't doubt it!!

The fun thing about owning a maxima though is that you know that kind of power is somewhere in your motor, it's just waiting to be let out!

i think what you said was more likely the case...reluctant to race that is. i couldn't call it a kill unless both were determined to duke it out.

I hope you realize that an Altima, (3.5) ran a 13.6 @ 102, and one of our very own Maxima's ran a 13.7.

Yeah that is what I have been telling to my friend that just got a new 350Z 6-speed. He says that his car is all that. I think if I don't screw up my shifts I should be able to run with him. Now that
3rd gear shift better be good, I always screw it up.
