I just bought a bottle of touch up paint for a Pearl White 2k2. I think the paint code is QX1. I touched up a couple spots on the hood...but the paint looks more like silver or gray? Just wondering if anyone has used this and had any luck?

 

I'm not 100% sure about 2K2's but when I had my '98 SE in Pearl White the touch up paint came in two different containers. One container was plain white and the other was clear with the silver flakes ("pearl"). They were supposed to be applied in that order. Back then the paint was referred to as two-component paint.

 

There are apparntly 2 different white color in the 5th gens. Double check ur paint code

 

I got the paint code right off the door. I have a feeling RC03Max is correct...but the dealer didn't say anything to me about needing two bottles or anything. I believe the 2 stage paint is PROBABLY the answer, since it is pearl....disappointed that the dealer wouldn't know this. THANKS!

I'm postiive that pearl white is a two stage process. My neighbor has a 2k1 pearl white and recently needed body work, the estimate on the paint was very high because it's a two stager. RC03MAX is right, you prolly have to apply two different coats in a certain order.

 

I just did some touch-ups on my Glacier Pearl '02 with the same factory matched touch-up paint. I got it from the parts dept for free because I bought my car there. I actually asked him if there was another pair of colors to go with it. You see, the Glacier Pearl (lucky me) is a three stage paint job. The response I got was that they aren't doing multi-stage touch up paints for this color (I would guess not for others either in the gen5s.)
Even after wet sanding and finish polishing the spots, it still looks like cr*p (yes, silver in most sunlight.) Next time I'll see if i can get the older 2-stage touch up.

 

for 2000-2001 icelandic pearl, the code is QT1....i don't know the paint code for the 2002 pearl white, but any parts department should know that...at least their computers do...
