Aftermarket Horns

I have a 2k2 SE and my in-laws have a 2k3 GXE. My mother-in-law just made mention of how wimpy the horn sounded. I know I have seen several people on here who had installed afetrmarket horns. If you have an aftermarket horn, please post brand, install info, etc.

Thanks for your input!

"Freeway Blasters" from Pep Boys are great. $12 each.
I believe you're gonna want to get notes E & F..that'll give you that BIG American made horn.
That one in the front grill is a pain, however.

the horn isnt wimpy but it is freaking loud at least it serves its purpose as an alarm (well, not exactly but still better less loud alarms)

Hella Supertone Horns

Well, since this thread didn't get alot of response, I thought I would bump it again.

I just saw one signature that said they were going to install Hella Supertone Horns. I have also seen an install write-up on these. So, if you know where it is, please post a link on the installation.

BTW, here are the horns...

I replace my horns w/ Altima horns..

I imagine because the Altima (and now the '04 Maxima) is being built in the US is the reason there are American horns in it. It costed me $26 from the dealer. I bet the Altima and the '04 Max horns are the same too, test em out, if not, just get the Altima horns..

The mod took about 10 mins.. All the connectors fit perfectly, you might have to bend the bracket on the horn a little so you can orient the horns to face down.

They are LOUD!

Thanks,
Nick

I went to my dealership the other day and asked for the Altima Horn. They wanted to know if i wanted the horn used by the steering wheel or the one used on the alarm. They are 2 different horns with different notes. I said probably the one used by the steering wheel. He came back saying the Altima only uses one horn...not like the Max which uses 2 horns.

My question is this....Did you get 2 horns or 1 horn? If you got 2 horns, were they 2 of the same or one of each?

Your input is very much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I have 4 Freeway blaster E note horns, Its as loud as a firetruck's air horn. I cleared traffic once on accident, I was at a light and saw my friend drive by and I laid down on the horn, he waved and others behind him pulled to the right and didnt cross traffic. Ever hear a fire truck zoom by? WAAAAHH WWAAAAAAAH! its a lil like that, but its 20X louder than the max's stock horn. Draws 20amps 2 in the front and 2 lower grille area-custom wired.

I got my Hella Horns from a group deal put together by soundmike several months ago. I think they were $60? Not sure. Try searching the web though, there are other places that sell them for less. I didn't find out till it was too late. I'm happy with my horns though... I'll be happier when I find the time to install them!

lcf, where'd you find it cheaper? LMK and i'll see if i can beat that price. From that time i did the groupdeal the lowest i could find was $57 + S/h.

So my price then was still cheaper shipped

00MaxSE, yep the Hella Supertone's. LMK what's the cheapest you guys can find online (e.g. reputable seller) and i'll try my best to beat it.

I'd like to buy a set. Are they direct replacements for the stock horns? Plug and play? If so, will you accept $50 shipped?

J.

I don't remember where. I scoured a LOTTTTTT of sites looking for a really good write-up on how to install a switch so I could flip between the stock horns and the Hella's. PoLo was helping me out a lot as well. Then school got busy as hell and I couldn't do it. Not to mention it was really cold this winter. Now I'm preparing to move to Chicago. Sigh, life never slows down dammit.

And about the "higher" price? It wasn't THAT big a deal to me. A matter of a couple dollars really.

Our transaction went so smoothly it was worth the lil extra. No worries.

Hands down, Hella dual Supertone horns are the shiet...something like 140db. After I got mine and showed 'em off to the local Maxima guys, at least 4 of them bought them too...

Most of us got them from Soundmike b/c it's a great deal and he's very fast!
