Most people don't realize Nissan is majority owned by French car company Renault. Michelin is French also. Something to keep in mind as the war continues in Iraq.

So what. This means nothing to me, war in Iraq or not. It should be clear to most that governments often take stances that their people and/or corporations my not agree with. I see no reason to punish Nissan just b/c they are majority owned by a French corp. How would you feel if someone in another country said I'm not buying from all US companies b/c I don't believe what they are doing is right, even though that company may have the same opinion as you do. I'm sure you wouldn't feel very happy about it when decreased sales lead to a reduction in the labor force. And finally, companies always act in their best interests, no one elses, not for their customers and certainly not for the gov't under which they are incorporated. Political opinions don't really belong here anyway, it just clutters the forums.

Not to mention that we already paid for the damn car. It's a little too late.
As Saturday Night Live said, "Stop pouring your French wines down the drain, you aready paid for it! If you want to do something, **** in an empty bottle and sell it to a Frenchman."

Last I heard Renult only purchased about 4x% of the Nissan Motor Company. Therfore they do not own most of it. 50.1% is needed to have entire controlling interest in a company.
If we wanted to we could round up enough people here on the .org and all the other Nissan forums, form our own organization and buy vast amounts of Nissan stock. That way we could have a voice in company decisions.

I also read on Car & Driver Forums that Nissan has been VERY profitable as of late, and are not only considering buying back their 4% or whatever, but they are also thinking of buying a peice fo Renault...I have no idea how much validity there is to the statement...but with all the VQ engine sharing, and new platform sharing...it sounds legit to me. (that they are very profitable now)
