My father noticed that the inside of the trunk lid on my 2000 SE is unfinished, meaning that it is painted, but uncovered. My brother who has a GLE said that his is finished. I guess I didn't realize that the trunk was finished differently on the two models. Is the difference due to the rear spoiler?

GXEs do not have that trunk liner either.
but i thought the SEs and GLEs had'em...
it's not because of the spoiler for sure..

if you really want to have your trunk liner, i think you can purchase if from your dealership.
that should give you that extra 1hp!!!! hehe

Meridian...

My GXE Meridian has it.. if you look in the Maxima brochure it has Trunk Lid Trim itemized. I don't know what other models/packages has it, just that mine does.

Mine came part of the Meridian Edition

Heated seats, side airbags and some other stuff came with this package.

I think it was standard on all models up to the 5th gens then became an option or package deal.

The trunk lid trim is part of the Meridian package, regardless of trim level.

You're telling me that just to get a stupid piece of carpet(felt, whatever) for the trunk lid it costs extra??? Holy crap...I knew those idiots skimped on the car but that badly? Whats gonna be extra next year? A radio?

high dollar option-trunk lid trim

Yeah, in order to get trunk lid finished out, you had to opt for the Meridian edition @ $600 or so. Of course, my dealer couldn't seem to locate a car with Meridian, and I didn't want to wait 3 months to get one in order to get heated seats (besides, it'd be spring by then!). Anyhow, I think it is rather chintzy, myself, but I guess if the beancounters had to decide between the cargo net or the nice liner on the trunk lid, well, at least the cargo net is functional!

...and I guess next generation, perhaps the liner in the rest of the trunk will be optional, or maybe the interior carpet?? he he

yea.. it's pretty lame. You can buy it separately though... I couldn't find the Meridian/winter package when I got my Max. The "trunk lid trim" isn't too expensive, but way overpriced for what it is. It's a stupid piece of plastic with a felt-like covering.

Oh... and (get this) you also have to buy the plastic bolts to hold it in!!!!! My parts guy didn't realize it. Fortunately he had some lying around he let me have for free. But if they wouldn't have fit, I'd have had to buy each bolt separately. I forgot how much they were, but I think it would have added up to almost $20 extra for those stupid plastic bolt things!

It's not that big a deal. I have it and hardly ever notice it. I guess it just looks more uniform under there with it.

I didn't know what trunk lid trim was. So I asked the salesperson too. He was clueless as well. Pathetic.
